You did an excellent job Larry, and all here appreciated the work that you did and the time that you spent putting on the contest, finding a sponsor, and working through all of the mud to give us an entertaining outlet once a month.
I'm sorry as well that our interaction of late has frustrated you enough to call it quits. My frustrations over the July SSOTM contest are much more on the broad spectrum, regarding more so the integrity of the contest, it's participants, and the forum as a whole. I apologize if those frustrations manifest in a way that you felt was an attack on you.

 

Thanks Scooter (Larry) your efforts were greatly appreciated, we got to see some great SS shots we wouldn’t have seen without your work.

It's a sad day, Scooter. I never had a shot worth submitting myself, but always enjoyed the pictures and the banter. SSOTM will be missed.

The internet is a tough place to be. I can't blame you scooter. It tends to bring out the worst in people when there is no personal interaction and everyone is hiding behind a computer screen. I thought you did a great job and I know I couldn't do it half as well as you ran it.

 

What good would it do? Nobody will ever accept the poll results again because someone has found a way to beat the system.
The SSOTM will forever be suspect to foul play and the results questioned. It is over as far as I am concerned.

The worst part about it was, I knew when I brought Adam's in that something like this could happen. I had hoped that it would not happen
but there was a chance it could and it did.

You want to blame someone for causing you to quit, don't blame a Mod, blame the guy who cheated and started this whole fiasco. I don't understand how instead of blasting the cheater for ruining the integrity of the contest you work so hard to produce, you want to make jokes about it at 15SuperSport's expense and act like nothing happened. Doesn't make sense. You may want to think about that. Sorry scooter trash, but you're twisted up a bit on this one.

 

The offender should have been BANNED! When he was not banned I went and did what I always do, make fun of the situation. If it was not bad enough for the mods to ban him then it was not bad enough for me to take it serious so I glossed over the incident trying to make it go away. Then I realized that the SSOTM would forever be tainted. Nobody would believe the results of the poll again so I decide to just quit. However even if he was banned it could happen again with someone else stuffing the ballot box, so to what end would continuing the SSOTM be. I quit for me it is over.

 

Having run a volunteer organization for the last few years I can only commiserate with you Scooter. Despite all the good times and the positive feedback, it's always the negativity, no matter how small, that keeps you awake at night. I have no stomach for wrangling sponsors but give me a PM and maybe we can figure something out, would like to size the involvement and the scope of this latest issue.

Really a shame that it ends this way with a tainted contest that we haven't figured out a way to prevent.
Lots of injured feelings and damaged relationships over the whole incident. Whether it was intentional cheating or went down the way the apparent offender posted is moot at this point. Harm was done to individuals, the Mod team, and the forum itself, that cannot be undone. Wish we could rewind and fix it, but life doesn't work that way.
Not sure what the future holds.
Signing off now to mull this over for a while.
