Ok, so since the cam swap, we’ve finally been able to start steady state tuning again. So far, on 93 octane at around 10psi boost, there hasn’t been a hint of KR. I am pleased. Moving forward instead of backwards makes me warm and squishy [emoji41]
so awesome to hear! its definitely been a journey...

Just realized it’s been about a month since the last update, so here goes: right after that post, the electronic controller on the dyno took a ****, so it halted things for a while. Dyno got back up and running, my buddy put his PPV on it to see if it was up to snuff, seems to have a different issue now. Last week, one of our forum members had his car on there for day one of his tuning, but since he lives pretty far, part two is TBA. Meanwhile my car has a spot that seems to be caused by the blended tables (MAF and VE) that we’re trying to work out rather than work around. Shouldn’t be much longer.

Glad to hear that you're still fighting the good fight and haven't given up on the hotrod. Just as equally pleased to know that your health is allowing you to keep banging your head on the wall in your pursuit of awesomeness. ;)

Lol! I definitely do a lot of head banging [emoji23]

At any rate, still have a lot to do, but none of it pressing. Best thing about it is she looks completely stock and not like this:

Looks like you need some tire glue…jus sayin[emoji1787]
It’s a hub dyno lol

It was definitely the trans - we fixed it. [emoji41]

Just got the car back from the body shop. Hood painted and new bumper painted as well. Now I’m swapping the parts from the old bumper to the new one. Can’t post pics for some reason.

Hoping to hit the track this Friday.

So it’s been a minute since the last update. Really hasn’t been much to tell. I think I posted up in the what have you done thread about repairing my heads. Sometimes DIY projects can really humble you. Never checked my heads for straightness and it finally bit me in the ass - boost was bleeding off into the cooling system. Fixed that, hit the dyno for some quick tune changes then the track. Did not make sure I had the extra trans fluid in there and made a complete fool out of myself as the car reminded me in the worst way. Checked the fluid the next day and saw some ugly in there, so now I’m gonna rebuild it again and add a couple extra discs for some more holding power. Been really busy with work so I haven’t had as much time to dedicate to the old girl, but I’m still working on my quest for 9s [emoji41]

Ok so the trans rebuild went swimmingly, but I figured I’d rebuild the rear and replace the u-joints on the driveshaft. Well everybody got sick and the rear has been stuck at a buddy’s house. I’ll prolly get it back this coming week and get the running by the weekend. Thing that sucks is I missed the whole season so testing and tuning won’t resume until the spring :sneaky:

Nah, it’s alright - just woulda been nice to get that 9 second time slip before Atco closed.

Howdy...this isn't a how-to or anything...just charting the progress of my LSA install. I happened upon an LSA blower from a ZL-1 back in October of last year and I couldn't say no. Thanks to the guys here, Eviltwin and SyP come to mind first ;), I decided that this would b a very doable project. I began ordering parts from GM right away based off the list (TX_SS?) in the FI section and the G8 forums over the last few months...I installed things like the pulleys, LS9 cam, intercooler tank and crank pulley since they don't impact normal driving.

Today, the intercooler was installed...My guy is waiting for a few fittings before we drop the blower on...I'm really getting excited. I'll try and sort thru the pics on my phone and post them up...:grin

EDIT

Ok, so some things went wrong and I hurt the motor, so this is an updated list of what’s in the car now

Engine: 417CID with 9.8:1 compression, Manley Turbo Tuff rods, Manley forges pistons and Manley 4” forged crank.
Stock heads with Manley springs, locks , retainers.
Kong LSA 2650 blower & ZL1 lid (reinforced brick -12 fittings) with 3” upper, ATI 8.6” lower on ATI damper.
Nick Williams 102mm throttle body with home made intake, modified Rotofab box.
Cooling it down is a PnP Frostbite Chiller, no front mount IC. Glanzer 2+ gallon tank and ‘13 GT500 IC pump finish off the cooling system.

Transmission: rebuilt 6L80 with ZL1 converter and improved HD clutches. I also modified the valve body with a Sonnax “Zip kit”, which has better valves, springs and 8 check balls instead of 7 for the updated plate. There’s a billet intermediate shaft and improved pistons as well.

Driveline: one piece 3.5” driveshaft (installed), Detroit Locker TruTrac diff and G-Force 1500hp axles - which will be installed soon.

Rolling stock: Weld RT-S 17x4&9.5 drag setup with MT front runners and DRs (305s)
Run the factory wheels and tires for street duty.

So I’ll keep the original info so that some of you can see the evolution, but this gives you a glance at the current state of things [emoji41]
How did you like the Zip Kit? I have been wanting to get one for my wife’s Escalade after I used the Sonnax kit for my 4L60 in the Yukon paired with a corvette servo. Best mod you can do to a stock Chevy in my opinion. Now I want to get the kit for my SS, but I don’t know how to vacuum test. So that will have to be professionally installed.
