Anybody got theirs yet, where are the pictures ?!?!?
I got mine yesterday! Looks great, feels great. OP was 100% correct about it not being as simple as double sided tape, though. I'm still scheming how to attach mine, but I'm leaning towards buying an extra fuse box cover ($35 or so before shipping, I think) so I don't feel guilty about tearing it up and using rivets.

If Mriman47201's came out with a white background, that's bad news for a lot of people I would imagine. :frown It took forever for me to bumble through editing the .png file in GIMP (Photoshop is too rich for my blood), but knowing this I'm glad I did.

what about those of us that are not computer savy. can someone help. I really want one

I am with him on this.... I really want one and esp. like the GM Performance version I seen posted here but lack the software and/or skills to get it done myself. Someone could make a few bucks putting info into their templates they have worked up that they get via email or PM and sending back via email.

Got my plaque today.
Even before it arrived I realized that I had made a mistake. I had started with the original template... a 2016 template and I have a 2015 SS !!!! :frown
Two other details meet my eye. My logo pretty much fills the entire 6x6 plaque. Not as much brushed aluminum border as the OP shows. Maybe I need to shrink that 6x6 template just a touch from what it auto-scales.
Yes, you definitely do! In an earlier post, I mentioned that. The website scales the image to 6.5" x 6.5" when you upload it, which pushes the thin black border all the way to the edge. I prefer a brushed aluminum border outside of that, which requires that you rescale the uploaded image back to it's original dimensions: 6.0" x 6.0".

Also the background "white" in the logos and the background of the text boxes are filled in white. The brushed aluminum does not shine through.
Before I reorder the corrected 2015 plaque. How do I insure that the Text are on the raw aluminum background. Do I have to upload a particular file format?
That is what the original showed, no?
Interesting. Check your invoice carefully. Did you order a "Standard Aluminum Sign" or a "Brushed Aluminum Sign"? They offer both; the former has a white background, the latter shows the brushed aluminum through the transparent parts of the image.

Now if you're certain that you ordered a "Brushed Aluminum Sign", the next thing to verify is the Proof. Did you click the "View Proof" button to preview your sign before ordering? If so, did it show white or brushed aluminum on the proof? Whether or not you checked the Proof at the time or ordering, you should be able to go back to the website, review/edit your design (it will have saved it for you when you ordered), and view the Proof to verify whether it shows a white background or a brushed aluminum one. If the proof is white and you're SURE you ordered a Brushed Aluminum Sign and not a Standard Aluminum Sign, then the issue might be with your template. In this case, which template did you use -- the PhotoShop template, at PNG template, or a PDF template?

We'll want to sort all of this out ASAP not only for your sake, but to help others avoid the same issue(s).
Finally: if it makes you feel any better, my first order had several errors, too. The same border problem you had, and I misspelled Australia in one of two places. Oops. So, like you, I ordered two signs to get the one I wanted. Don't tell anyone though, OK? :grin

I agree you shouldn't be left out in the cold. And while I'm not in a position (nor am I qualified!) to accept custom design requests, I'm willing to help you get a template filled out with your personal/vehicle information using one of the PNG templates of my own making (depending upon your car's year model) in post #10 of this thread. I obviously can't help you with someone else's design -- you'll have to take that up with them.

Here's what we can do:

  • You send me a PM with all of the information required, starting with the year model of your SS. Review the template images in Post #10 to be sure you send all of the required information. No need to send things like the Model, build plant, etc. that are the same for all of us.
  • Also, be sure include your email address.
  • I'll fill out the appropriate template with your information and email you back a complete image file that can be uploaded to the signs.com website.
  • You will be responsible for reviewing the image and verifying that the information is the way you want it. If not, let me know and I'll update it accordingly.
  • You can then proceed to the signs.com website, upload the image, and place your order.
  • When I get some time (hopefully, here in the next day or two), I'll prepare a step-by-step tutorial explaining how to upload your image and place your order on their website.

If someone else wants to offer design services for free or for a fee, that'd be great. But I'm definitely not that person. :grin

Whaddaya think?

WOW, you the man! I will get my info together and PM you with it. Thank You for your assistance, it is much appreciated.

I got mine delivered and installed.
NICE ! !
I started thinking about the model number VF1EK69. Is this the model number for the Commodore SSV Redline?? What I am guessing is that
because we here in the States are only getting just this model. Or am I way off base here??

Ordering tutorial -- step by step

Here's a step-by-step guide to ordering your plaque (sign) via the signs.com website -- once you have your final image file edited to include your desired information. Make sure it looks exactly the way you want it, as this procedure provides for no editing/altering of the image -- only scaling it to fit the 6x6 plaque.

No doubt there is more than one way to skin this cat. But this is what I did and it seemed to work. Follow these instructions if you're so inclined. The screenshots below were made with the blank 2016 Template PNG file from post #10 of this thread.

1. Point your preferred web browser to http://www.signs.com.
2. In the "Sign Type:" drop-down menu (just beneath the big "Free Design Services" graphic), choose "Brushed Aluminum Sign". Be sure NOT to select "Aluminum Sign", unless of course you're familiar with the difference, and have decided that's what you want. The website has lots of information about each, but in short: the "Aluminum Sign" comes with a white painted background, and the "Brushed Aluminum Sign" comes with.... well, a brushed aluminum background. Either will undoubtedly look great -- choose the one you like. The one in the OP was the "Brushed Aluminum Sign".
3. In the "Size (inches):" boxes, enter 6 for the width, and 6 for the height.
4. Enter your desired order quantity.
5. Click on the blue and white "Get Started! >" button.

Image

6. Click on the big "Upload Your Design" button.

Image

7. Click on the red & white "Select File" button, then follow the usual procedure for selecting the edited image file (will differ from one computer/operating system to another).

Image

8. Notice that they've warned you that the image you uploaded has been scaled to fit the sign size. Click the "OK" button to dismiss the warning.

Image

9. In the "Object Options" box (circled in red, below), change the width and height from 6.5 to 6. This will undo the scaling they performed on your image (without your permission!) in the last step.

Image

10. Once the "Object Options" box looks like the one below, click the blue "Done" button next to the Trash Can icon in the "Object Options" box.

Image

11. Review all of the "Options", and select any of those that interest you. The only one I used for the plaque in the OP was the "Cut" = Rounded .25" to ensure that the corners of the plaque were round off. It fits better in the Fuse Panel Lid that way.

12. Click on the blue and white "View Proof" button to see a large proof of your sign. Is your layout centered? Does it include the small amount of brushed aluminum border around the edges? Did you select the correct image file, i.e., is the information on your proof correct? If you're satisfied with your proof, I would recommend taking a screenshot of it so you can compare what you ordered with your final plaque when it arrives. Click the "X" in the upper right corner of the proof when you're finished reviewing the proof.

Image

13. If everything looked right on your proof, click the orange and white "Save & Continue" button. The rest of the process is pretty standard for ordering something online; payment & shipping info, etc.

Well, the fact that you had a "bad one" makes me feel better.

I used the free program "paint.net" to edit the design.

I have attached two screen grabs of the proofs. I did not catch the first order had the wrong year (2016) .... and that the letters were on white backgrounds. I did not have the experience of seeing the correct one to realize the difference should be visible in the proof. Another mistake I may have made was uploading a .jpg version of the plaque. This loses your layers quality, flattening the design. I don't know how I got the size right, I think the .jpg automatically scaled to 6.0 x 6.0 in. I do not remember changing it.

For the second image which shows the lettering and logos on brushed aluminum backgrounds (I hope, don't have that plaque yet.) I uploaded a .png file which preserved the layer design. You can see the difference in these screen grabs. I DID have to resize the design "object" to 6.0 x 6.0 in, I specifically remember doing that.

Crossing my fingers I got it right this time.

That 2nd proof looks right to me. I'd bet you'll be pleased with that one. Nice job!

I got mine all edited up thanks to the assistance of raneil86 and no issues with the website...UNTIL... I went to checkout and tried to use the 15% discount code. the one listed here in post #89 of "R152Z634KYA" is no longer valid per the website. Does anyone have a working code they can pass along. I can PM you my Email to pass along to the company if needed. I am cheap and try to save a buck or three everywhere I can. I ordered 3 signs so I will save more like $12 or in SS terms... 5 gal of fuel !

***** UPDATE ***** I used the code "MOBILE15" and it worked for 15% off

Well, I for one, did not know and since I already created, ordered and paid for plates... I am going to "forget" that I now know !!!:angel

I thought of this to get around the HP numbers.

I also tried another approach. (edited a little since first posted) I also am considered making the size 8.25 x 8.25 and cover the whole top of the fuse box, and not dealing with the curvature of the inner portion.

.

The proof photo attached to your post does appear to have lettering on white background... not see through to the brushed aluminum. Hope that is what you wanted.

Looking good!

Note: The "G6K" in your options field is the RPO code for Some Like It Hot Red Metallic. I believe Heron White is "GII"

photoshop alternative

If I dont have photoshop what can I do.

I use the free program paint.net. Has most of the features I need and allows "layers". If you have not worked in layers before it takes a learning curve to get to doing any work efficiently.
