I just installed mine last weekend. Overall I like it very much. I'm having two issues with it though.

1. I've noticed the aforementioned low volume issue. Has anyone figured this out yet?
2. I'm getting some random and brief dropouts with the infotainment display for about 0.25 seconds, especially at night for some reason. Anyone else experience this?

Also, as far as firmware updates are concerned, I'm a little confused about which USB device I will need. It came with a USB cable with a molex connector on one end and a USB female connector on the other. If I get the firmware updated, will I need to get the additional USB dongle that the 2016 and 2017 SS models apparently need?
I don't have those issues. I make sure my volume on my phone is all the way up. There is also a ksmart sound settings.

2014 and 2015 I don't think need the usb portion as the aux is enabled on those years. I not sure though.

I messaged the kStore yesterday with my version numbers and this was their reply:

yes there has software for update

Thanks for posting the link to the software update. I downloaded the HOLDEN_KS_Auto_DSP_0219.rar file from the link, installed it and it still works. I'm using Apple carplay and didn't discover any issues before nor after the update. However, on the carplay home screen, the icon for the ksmart home screen has changed to a nice little Holden logo and is now labeled as "HOLDEN." I didn't notice this before, but MyLink's hardware "Back" button works in some carplay apps. I share some screenshots you might find interesting.

I didn't download the file at the other link given, alfa_v3.2.2.zip because don't know what it's for.

Great, I'm glad it worked. Once I figure out the usb connection I'll do it. Can you do phone mirroring?

looks like this file is in the alpa zip
cb_carplay_upgrade.bin

After convincing myself that the xxxupgrade.bin file is for upgrading the MCU, and noticing the screenshots in posts #35 and #36 show their last digits for the MCU as _7_255_0 and mine is 0_53_0, I tried installing the update file. Everthing seemed to go well, the screen prompts, progress bar, etc. But at the end, the message appeared, "Read upgrade file failed?" Because it didn't break anything after trying to install the file several times, I decided to leave it be.

It would be good to know what the two files, software update and mcu update are suppose to fix or add. This device delivers as promised. It does take about a full minute from car startup to get to the carplay screen. And the infotainment display does momentarily blank out at night.

No, I didn't get screen mirroring to connect to my iphone. There was an unable to connect error on the phone. I'm okay with that because I don't forsee a need for screen mirroring.

Ok, sounds good. I can ask and see what that file upgrades exactly, buy something tells me the response will be less than desirable.

My issue was the time it takes bluetooth to even show up in the car. Sometimes it's immediately available but most of the time maybe a minute. Which truly isn't bad. I dud have andriod auto set to connect when the car started but then it would y be connected to bluetooth because it was available. I was exiting out if AA and selecting bluetooth source then going back into AA. Today I just realized you can push the src button in while in AA and it will change the source. I didn't realize that. The skip track buttons on the head unit don't work with AA but pressing up on the src button will skip the track.

All in all I'm happy with it and AA/carplay is great to have on the headunit and not running on my phone.

Screen mirroring question. I can't get past this part. Anyone know what needs to be done?

I haven't tried it yet to confirm, but I think mirroring goes through WiFi, not Bluetooth connection

I don't see it show up. You have disconnect AA or Carplay first. I would think a new connection would be available but I never see one.

Perhaps I do need the update....

Decided to order this, but not sure if I need just the carplay box or the option that includes an Aux device. Mine is a 2017. Read through what I could find but perhaps I missed something. Any advice?

They told me I needed the aux box for my 2016 but I didn't end up using it.
USB is the only way to upgrade the software

Man, I've not followed up on this in a while. You guys have taken the lead to work the kinks out. Was a solution found for this problem? The factory radio will not stream BT Audio while the Ksmart box is connected, it is in a paused state.

what other function does the usb box provide (better audio quality vs bluetooth)? Do you run it into the center console existing USB port? I have a 2016 with no aux input.
It's used to update the software. Highly recommended hooking it up and updating

Does anyone have a fix for the quiet volume when bluetooth connected direct to ksmart?
Mylink is set to aux input (series 1) phone volume max and volume max in the ksmart settings. It is a lot louder if I connect bluetooth direct to mylink but is annoying to connect instead of automatic with ksmart.

I have a 2016 and I didn't order the USB box. The unit came with a USB cable that I used to update the software. For playing music from a USB flash drive, I exit the ksmart system and use the original USB jack inside the armrest box just as I did before installing the ksmart module.
