AGM batteries are physically smaller for the same capacity as flooded..

My 2016 also made in Portugal. 700 CCA (SAE); 680 CCA (EN); RC 130; Ah 70. 700 seems a little light and as I said earlier, this battery is noticeably smaller than my OEM GXP was. So far no issues though but when I replace I will go with higher capacity.

Yes.

Still less electronics.

The link refuses to open for me. Is that an official GM link ???
Got it and yes it appears to be from GM automotive advanced diagnostics....seems legit GM publication? The overall numbers seem very low even for the other V8 and V6s. Odd... also note that the Colorado gets a whopping 810 CCA but doesn’t say whether it is the diesel variant.

So here I am stranded in offsite airport parking and my ‘14 isn’t starting, appears the battery is toast.

The place’s little handheld jumper didn’t do the trick so I’m waiting for roadside to come try to jump it,. If that doesn’t work they’ll tow it.

My question, where to take it at almost 6pm Friday eve- Autozone or Advanced Auto? Somewhere else? I’m in Austin.

Anything I need to make sure of on the replacement other than 48 AGM?

Car will be 5 years old in December so I guess I’m due, 40k miles.

UPDATE: got it jumped drove 30 miles to Autozone battery tested fine but they said it needed a charge and they think the alternator is bad.

Now I wonder if thatÂ’s covered under power train, if not, how easy to do it myself? ItÂ’s starting back up now on its own at least.

^^ Not to be a negative Nelly, but based on literally every encounter I have had with AZ with regard to battery and/or alternator diagnosis, I would strongly suggest you get another opinion (from a reputable professional).

A local shop who I trust (Service One Auto fka Kwik Car) tested and said itÂ’s just the battery. Alternator fine for now but could die if I ran too long on the bad battery. They are Installing a new battery now for less than $200.

FYI AC Delco OEM battery is 20% off on Amazon right now bringing it to appx $170 shipped plus tax.

Good info here on this forum which I appreciate.

:2cents:
You are correct with your assessment as far as I'm concerned. I will add that I have had very good luck with the AZ Gold Alternators on my '94 diesel pickup. They held up and lasted in situations where the A/C Delco didn't. Those would only last about 2 years, the amount of time the batteries would last. Went through 4 sets of batteries and 4 alternators before it was 10 years old. The AZ Gold lasted through 3 more sets of batteries before the rear bearing locked up, then AZ gave me a new one for free. I've also had the best luck with Optima Red Top batteries in that truck, they last a bit over twice as long as the flooded cell batteries do with the Diesel engine. It's too bad they don't make a battery to fit the SS, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

Optima is the only battery I use and have used in my other vehicles for years.
I would already have one in my SS if they made one for it.

Group 94R is 12.4" l, 6.9"W, and 7.5" H
Group 49 is 13.9"L 6.9"W, and 7.5" H
Group 48 is 10.9"L 6.9"W, and 7.5" H

Can y'all confirm that the group 49 fits in my 2017?

So your battery was dead
Jumped it and drove 30 miles
...well, if your alternator charged that battery to test “fine” in 30 miles, and now the car starts OK? I would say your alternator seems working well!

Old news that most likely know, but Optima makes a direct fit battery for our cars. It is a Yellow top versus Red top, but a good battery.
It's good to have options, but in the interest of full disclosure, that yellow top is also 8.5 lbs. heavier and at least $100 more expensive than the AC Delco 48AGM replacement.
