All of our brackets are aluminum what does that have to do with mounting a Chiller in front of crash bar?

The likeliness of me having a minor bump in the front that damages my chiller and wouldn't damage your chiller is not very likely. A lot more likely to have a front end bump that would hurt either one of them. In my million miles of driving not once have I had a bump in the front end, so it's a risk I'm willing to take

I have a double pass heat exchanger being fabricated that should need no modifications/cutting to the car while retaining the stock windshield fluid reservoir. Should be roughly 50% more volume than the stock ZL1. Hope to have it in the next week or so.

And yes I should clean the bug guys off the bumper cover.

Stg???

What has happened to STG? I ordered a heat exchanger back in October and not recieved it. Have they closed shop? No one responded to messages and the phone goes to generic voice mail. Wasting $750 was not in the budget.

That's lame, sorry to hear it.

Charge back!

If I were in the market for a HX I'd be hitting up PPV, he has a slick setup!

Didn’t post my Afco upgraded hx

I hope there is reasonable explanation.

Not to get off topic but I feel your pain. I’m dealing with an out of town vender who is supposed to be powder coating my 6 pot Brembo’s and it’s been about 8 weeks and I’m just getting excuses and the runaround with only sporadic reply’s to my inquiries. He has my calipers and has been paid in full including return shipping. Ugh!

Ok back on topic. HE 2.0 will require a windshield washer reservoir relocation but no cutting and it will be a drop in.

what are the thoughts/concerns with having a lot of it blocked off with the bumper support?

could you still run an over the radiator intake?

Not concerned with the bumper blocking air flow to the HE. The unit has way more capacity than a stock ZL1 and there is a gap between the bumper and HE allowing air movement. The real question is did I leave enough room around the HE and going through the HE to efficiently cool the factory cooling systems. Time will tell.

OTR shouldn’t be an issue. There is 2.5”-3” behind the HE but don’t have an OTR to confirm.

i think that you will be fine, look at 4th gen F body radiators, they dont have near the surface area of the SS radiator and they have zero cooling issues.

That should be fine - the fascia already blocks off more than that.

I spoke to him via FB messenger last week and asked about the availability of the Heat Exchanger. He still is short on cores to build them. He told me he had 2 orders that he hadnt been able to ship due to that and wasnt going to take any more orders until he got his cores. I am in the same boat with Active Interchillers. Ordered a kit on 11/17 and was told 5-6 weeks. It will be 10 weeks on Friday. Same answer every week. One fitting is all that is still needed and his fabricator (sourced out) is the reason he cant ship it out.

After reading this I sent contacted STG through Messenger. It is confirmed they are waiting on new cores. I totally understand supply problems. I did not ask, nor do I care at this point, why they didn't return previous messages. Just happy they are still in business and working to fill my order.

Glad you got an answer. He is a good guy.

Does removing the plastic insert in front of the crash bar cause any bumper cover sagging issues on these cars?

I’m pretty sure it does not, I took mine out a year ago and still looks good. I did add an interchiller up front but that doesn’t fill the whole space as the insert does

Next Generation Automotive is making a new bar that opens up some room up front.
Obviously the crash rating is effected, but that is a lot of room. The last picture I believe is a Pontiac to show what it looks like with a cover on it. It's pricey at $450 I believe, but is in an option for a large intercooler.
