Park assist warning problem

I notice every time I put the vehicle in reverse the park alarm goes off as if I'm about to hit something. Then it usually stops after 1 or 2 seconds. When I first bought the vehicle it would go off somewhat longer and would go off at random intervals while I had the car in reverse. The problem seems to have decreased somewhat but it's still there. I've driven many other GM vehicles (I'm a salesman) and have not noticed this.

Is anyone else having a similar issue?

PS: On a side note the backup camera sucks compared to other GM vehicles. In the morning when the sun is shining from the FRONT of the vehicle or any time at night, visibility in the camera isn't nearly as good as it is in the camera of my wife's Impala, or numerous other GM vehicles.

This car has sensors both front and rear so I wonder if it's the front sensors that are sending a warning. I get the noise backing out of my garage in the morning when I know there's nothing behind me but the front sensors probably do detect things like the garage door jambs.

Even if that were the case the warning shouldn't start then stop again before the car is even moved. Also the front sensors shouldn't cause problems when in reverse. Maybe they do but that would be pretty silly.

GM is silly. Sensors don't care what gear you are in. The fronts are seeing something then deciding it's not a problem.

Had something new pop up today. Backed out of my drivway and then a half mile down the road noticed my rear view camera was still on the console screen except the image was black! When I put the car in reverse the image came back up. But would not go back to normal audio screen until I turned the car off then back on. I'm wondering if whatever issue I'm having is related to the car not being sure what gear it's in.

Mine did the same thing the other day, as I was picking it up from the dealer, oddly enough. I actually flagged a service guy down to check it out. He turned the car off and then back on and it went back to normal. It was kind of shrugged off as one of those things that a reboot fixes. I am not going to complain about it unless it starts happening on a regular basis.

I've had this happen a couple times. The shadows from an overpass seem to confuse the camera system sometimes when you go under the overpass. It detects it as a potential collision. This is not the same sensors as the parking sensors though. Parking sensors are ultrasonic, not camera based.

I just noticed something similar the other day. I expect it backing out of the garage, but as soon as I put the car in reverse in the parking lot I get a collision warning (mirrors, etc). It freaks out for a moment then clears up. I also noticed the rear camera staying on just a few seconds longer sometimes after moving to D and driving forward. I'm nervous about using the park assist to actually park the car.

It is seeing what is in the blind spot(s), front sensors or rear sensors. Even a person walking in the field of vision will set it off. NORMAL

NORMAL

Then don't use it if you feel that your control of the gas and brake is substandard. It only turns the steering wheel; does not control the gas or brake. Respectfully suggest reading the OM here.

To bad I couldn't have got my SS without all the sensor crap. If its not on the car it can't break.

Lol. Except I'll have to rip out the beep maker when that happens.

I've tried to turn it off thru the mylink, but it comes back on every time I turn the car off. Is there something I'm missing? Or is required to reset every time the car is powered off?

Has anyone else encountered this before ? I'd rather not take it to the dealer and waste time.

Heh mine does the opposite. I went into the parking assit config and turned it off. But mine still beeps when pulling in and out of parking spaces. And the green light on the center console comes on and off at random. Drive me nuts.
