If you had an opportunity to hoard any SS parts from a salvage yard that has some SSs in the lot, what would you recommend? I am thinking radiator (if in good condition from a low mile donor). I just wanted to bounce the question off the collective brain trust here in the forums.

Is the windshield going to be an issue? I had mine replaced last winter from a crack, wasn't hard to find and it's a Fuyao (sp) which means the aftermarket is manufacturing them.

This.

We have a flood damaged car in storage for the body panels alone (for the other toy car in the stable). The original molds are lost and the only way to remake is to make new molds or.do a 3D scan of the whole car.

I’m collecting some parts that I expect to break or wear the fastest — just based on experience having had parents that drive their cars into the ground.

Not really considering what’s going to be hardest to find.... I just want to have certain things on hand. I’ve bought everything second hand and whatever I don’t need, I won’t have any trouble selling back to the community.

Headlights and taillights, shifter boot and knob, steering wheel, driver door panel, center console lid. I don’t have room for a windshield or I’d consider it. Going to wish I had new upholstery for the drivers seat someday too.

No knowledge of the SS radiator but would a re-core do the trick? Speaking from long ago GM radiator experience, so may be a totally asinine idea.

HUD compliant windshield glass is basically using a type of Dichroic coating, on the compartment side, of the drivers side, of the glass to provide the "Invisible" yet reflective surface, the display requires to operate. G8 and PPV, do not have it. SOOO that said, PPV glass will install. You will lose the camera and the ability to resolve the light images, projected by the HUD!!

replaced a 07 Pontiac solstice windshield this year, they were limited production cars also and no problem getting aftermarket glass 12 years later.

This makes Kappa parts a bit easier.

Shared components

The Kappa architecture uses major components from nearly every GM division and modern platform:

SS has very few shared corporate parts. Kepp the "it's a Camaro" comments to yourselves to avoid embarrassment.

You guys are scaring me

I have that A/C combo hose already, I was thinking about getting a heater core and radiator.

It's the one that fails on our cars part# 92288310.

Look at what is hard to find with GTOs, and then realize SS will have the same problems.
My guess would be headlights, tail lights, bumper clips, the black roof trim with inserts for roof racks, exterior plastic pieces.

It might not hurt to pick up a set of belts as well. The A/C belt and serpentine belt are unique to the PPV and SS. Currently, the serpentine belt is on national backorder. Ask me how I know...

A belt should be pretty straight forward, it's simply rib count and length.

In a pinch? some A/C shops (and others) can make up hoses. I'm sure they can fix ours at the problem area (replace hoses and crimps). Also add another inch to it so it's not stressed anymore.

You can even make your own A/C hoses easily enough. Eaton EZ Clip hose and fittings work great. They provide for many standard and metric fittings. And if you have a unique fitting, they have a braze-on barb so you can use that fitting with their hose.

Now I definitely prefer stock parts when I can get them. But when they are no longer available you’ve got to be aware of the options.

I agree with the heater core. When my mag-rides' die, I planned to switch over to coil-overs. I'm looking for a rear bumper as the most vulnerable part. I already have a replacement hood and trunk lid. The risk for me is that I lose interest along the way.
