Low production numbers make the SS a true exotic. If I did the math right, with 253 million cars on the road in the USA, for every million cars there are five SS. That's 5 per million. Does that qualify as a rare car?
Not rare enough. I need to get me a Lamborghini Reventon. 1 of 20 total is good enough for me!

I thought I would officially say that I just bought a 2017 NGM MT tonight. Crazy deal. It has 3K miles on it; the dealer took it in trade right before the 20% hit. I knew the dealer's GM so he worked out a deal where I paid about 38K (it took a couple days to unfold), he certified the car for the extra warranty, gave me window tinting and a few other things. I'm thrilled just to get the one I wanted. Didn't have a moonroof but I kind of like it without it as I'm taller and I seemed to have more headroom.

Anyway, I let a sweetheart deal of a new 2017 PBM AT go that I had a refundable deposit on. If you are interested in this AT, it's in Clinton, MO at Jim Faulk Chevy. The internet salesperson is Tim Vogel. His cell is 660-888-2345. He is awesome and will sell the car at about triple net. It has 18 miles on it. So anyone looking for a super easy deal on a PBM AT, this is probably your best bet. He would arrange shipping too.

im happy for all SS owners since we have the chance to drive an exeptional vehicle.
for myself with one out of 12 this year i wouldnt have it any other way. i told my sales guy either i get a RPGM manual or i dont get one at all. (although everytime i see pics of NGM i start contemplating.....)
it going to be my first and probably only new car purchase. i am not planning on giving it away ever.

iratollah... Ours is a tight group...so much so that you have number 73 of 277 and I can tell you that 77 of 277 resides in my little hometown and is owned by one of our hometown firefighters... Seriously doubt that any other car group/forum as large as us pays attention to/cares about production numbers etc....IT IS A MODERN NOVELTY that we as a group will not likely get to be a part of again...

OUTSTANDING ! ! !
So we now have the 2017 production numbers. I have found out that MY car was built on 2/2/2017, number 2761 out of 4008, 1 of 46 with sunroof, spare and manual, COOLNESS!!! Big KUDOS to Chevrolet Customer Care folks!!!
Now I can place the order for my SS Fuse box Data Plate, except I need the number for my car in the options build. Anyone know how I can get those numbers for OPTIONS: WA103X/G5Q Regal Peacock Green Metallic??

SS production
2014 - 3527
2015 - 3168
2016 - 2221
2017 - 4008

Total: 12,924

E39 M5 was under 21,000 [I think it was closer to 20,500] between 98 and 2003.

Food for thought as the E39 hits the 20 year mark [for the 98s]. How may are left?

It is a great car all around, and I think we are all lucky to have a piece.

I'd like to think this is where the GXP would've been had Pontiac not been axed out of the picture in the grand scheme.

Any time I consider selling the GXP, I look at how much I miss my classics. One of the 2 were rare [my SX], but not that rare. Which is crazy to think about. I can go find another 71 LeMans easier than a GXP or SS...

The next issue will be to see how many are still around down the road...things happen, and we all have seen a shockingly large amount of totaled out G8s and SS models...

The only thing working for us is lack of theft, unlike the Dodge enthusiasts [Charger/Challenger/300 seem to be stolen at an alarming rate]

@the Captain, it seems like CCC should have provided that along with the rest of the numbers for your specific car.

I'm sure Angela is backed up from all the requests of individual VIN data, but have any of you received a response from her or anyone else from CCC as to your exact build number?

***Update***

Just heard from her. She said she's getting my build data from an "internal resource". Great customer service for a car that's no longer built. Thanks Angela!

I recently cashed in my final oil change.
When I returned 8 hours later they were just finishing up.
Seems the delay was due to none of the fifty folks onsite having a clue how to operate a standard transmission. Some hand from a sister dealer had to come in on his day off

You got to be... me.

Is this what to expect within a few years ???

It’s like an extra alarm system; this standard transmission thing
?
Indeed. Earlier this year I bought a true Japanese import, a RHD Nissan Sunny truck. With a manual transmission. I could probably leave the keys in the ignition with the windows down and it wouldn't ever get stolen. Nobody would know how to drive a RHD manual, lol.

Well this can't be correct. ... for more than one reason. See my signature.

I did some quick scans of the color based data, here's the 10 rarest set of sub-groups for 17 ( with under 10 each).
Some of you can say you are in a small group of:
SSB: 1 of 8

OBM: 1 of 6 and 1 of 8

RH2: 1 of 5

SIM: 1 of 5 and 1 of 6

RPGM: a 1 of 2 (already mentioned) as well as a few others... 1 of 3 1 of 7 and 1 of 9 RPGM was also the lowest production.

(for me , its a 1 of 4008 of 149 of 49....that's cool)

So, at this point, the rarest is the RPGM 2/2 man/roofless/spareless and a tie for 2nd rarest with a group of 5 each RH2 and SIM ...HOWEVER those 5 SIMs are AUTOs.

Oh, and the most common is a PBM roof, auto, spare...... 470 of them!! (I bet those are the rowdy bunch......probably all from 'Jersey.....)

I'm either 1/19 or 1/26 (PBM no sunroof, manual) Probably won't know about the spare/inflator until I get a flat!

Ok, I lied, I had to check. No spare, so it's 1/19.
