Our last dog before our current one had to be put down just shy of 15 years old, that was really hard to do and we didn't have a dog again for about 2.5 years or so after that. We finally adopted a dog from the Humane Society in Rapid City, SD just before Christmas of 2013. Can't believe how much I missed having a dog around until we got the new one, and fortunately this new dog really likes my wife which the last one did not.

So sorry to hear, I know how you guys feel as you know my best buddy Brock left us on Christmas eve. He was a great little guy and you can't tell me that dogs aren't people as they are just so loyal and love unconditionally.
Maybe our dogs have now met in the dog park up there and are sniffing butts to their hearts content. when not checking on us from time to time

I'm right there with you Doug. In 2003 my wife and I took a rescue dog into our home. We have loved that sweet little thing since day one. Then just this past Saturday morning my wife had gone downstairs to let Neesa out but something wasn't right. We rushed her to our vet to learn this was going to be the end. We had her put to sleep and are dealing with all the deep emotions that you and your wife are. I am sorry for your loss and know that you two have many great memories that you can look back on. It is so hard coping with the loss of a family member.

Doug, very sorry for your loss. My hopes are that when our furry friends pass over the 'Rainbow Bridge' they will be found waiting for us on the other side when our time comes.

So sorry that you had to lose Neesa, they are a HUGE part of the family.

Sorry to hear about the loss, try to be happy about the good times.
There is nothing like the unconditional love a dog gives, I'm going to need professional therapy when mine passes.
