So now that it is out who is actually going to buy one?

There seems to be a bit of resistance towards the new SS on the forum.
Going to hold off until there is a 6 speed manual?
Going to wait for the LT1?
Going to follow the path of TT C6 and keep complaining until you get AWD and a dual clutch manual?

Or are you happy with the way it is?

The SS not being sold in Canada isn't sitting right with me, but I guess I could just cross the border if I'm determined. Still weighing it out versus other cars I am interested in. One thing is for sure, I would wait for the manual version.

I'm buying one. Only question is if there will be a dealer mark up on them when they first come out. If there is, I will wait.

Don't need a manual. Better gas milage and performance from an Auto. And my wife won't complain. She can drive a manual but doesn't like it. I won't miss the sore left leg after an hour in stop and go traffic.

LT1 would be nice but again, don't need it. LS3 is a great engine and lots of upgrades/mods are available from this proven engine. LT1 is new, needs to be hacked and performance upgrades developed. I don't like being a beta tester any more.

Car does not need AWD or DCT. Yes, I live in Texas. There is no snow but plenty of rain. I grew up driving a 72 Chevy Impala in Erie, PA. If you know how to drive a rear wheel drive car with snow tires you don't need AWD. While I respect others opinion on it being a desirable option, it is not going to happen on this platform. Don't even get me started on DCT.

You're right. It doesn't NEED the options. It doesn't NEED 400hp either.
You wanna compare lengths?
I drove a 9 second car 30k miles every year through PA/NJ/NY winters as a regional rep. Can I oversteer at will and negotiate a snowstorm with ease? Sure.
But, why would I when I have OPTIONS and multiple cars ????
How silly.

Ferrari has gone 100% DCT and the fastest production cars in the world all have DCT. It's funny that those who try to argue with me want to argue with the giants of the industry.
Again, how silly.

I'm not arguing about DCT because Chevy doesn't have a DCT to put in the car. Or did I miss it?

Kind of like the AWD system you are crying for. What GM AWD system will fit in the VF?

Are you kidding me?
Do you really believe GM is incapable of doing DCT and AWD?
They can simply tap a vendor for whatever they need and then bring it inside at a later time like they did with the aluminum frames for the C6/C7.
Did you not read my posts that the Commodore offered AWD 10 years ago in the Coupe 4?

For the record, if I can get a crazy deal on the SS, I might pull the trigger.
But, I know GM, and that they will probably drop a LT1 and a TR6060 in the thing within 24 months (like they should have at launch) and then I will be pissed at myself, and GM, for being their fool again.

Personally I'm going to hold off to see if they add a manual trans for the next model year. If they had it at launch then yes, I'd be first in line for placing my order.

If they don't well then by that time the dealers shouldn't be attempting to do any price gouging and I'll be able to get a good deal. Getting a good deal always makes me feel better about not getting an option I wanted. :)

I can't justify buying the first model year and taking the hit on a trade if they release the manual and/or better engine in the following year.

Regardless its going to be interesting to see how many they actually sell.

I will be holding off on purchasing the 2014 Chevrolet SS. At the moment I think it's a great "performance sedan" but it can be much better. Probably all part of Chevy's effort to milk us but I think when the time is right we just could get the Chevy SS we wanted.

It was said to be a "four-door corvette" but it's more like a "four-door camaro" so far.

I'm interested in buying but a few things need to come together.

1. I have to like the auto. I haven't driven an automatic with aggressive programming/TapShift so I'll have to see how that performs.

2. Not interested in being one of the first interested buyers and dealing with dealers who think they can mark the car up over msrp because its so "new" and "exclusive". Went through that with the Gxp and left 1 place in particular after a "huge", well, situation lets call it. Lets say the whole dealership, inside and out, knew I was pissed. I ended having to travel to Omaha to finally get a reasonable deal.

3. If there's more than rumors flying by the time they're released, about the addition of the Lt1, I'll prob wait.

This is EXACTLY what it is, and will always be.
Expecting anything more or less is a mistake.

Chevy only used the "4 door corvette" talk to try to inflate the price.
Mark my words, the SS will be a complete failure if priced a dime over the Camaro.
Frankly, I feel the SS needed to differentiate itself from the Camaro even more by offering AWD and DCT. But, some Camaro owners want/need 4 doors and aren't willing to spend the money on the CTS-V or want that class of vehicle.

Depends entirely on the test drive. If it went like the GTO test drive went, I'll end up paying sticker (but not a mark-up). My best guess is that the car stickers in the mid 40's out the door.

Also, in the spirit of the forum I have added the following must-have options that are not actually available and the lack of which are complete deal breakers for me.

Maybe GM doesn't want to go AWD and DCT :D

Maybe this car is perfect for those who want a V8 sedan that is automatic and RWD.

Ever think about that? :D

For buyers who believe all wheel drive and a dual clutch transmissions are paramount there are plenty of choices out there for them. Since you presently can't buy an SS anyway, why not participate instead in a forum for a car you like, like an Audi A6 forum for example?

I drove the new A6 and I didn't love it. It was a beautiful machine to look at, but the driving experience was kind of a yawn. Cool gadgets though. But insanely expensive and to me just not worth the premium pricing.

I can buy whatever I want.

I never mentioned the A6.
I said the S6 or the S7.
If the AWD 4.0TT V8 drivetrain from the Bently Continental GT in those cars doesn't impress you with 0-60mph at 3.6 or less for $72k, then you are $hit out of luck.

Because, if you are still not impressed, then the SS Sedan is going to do nothing for you and you should consider a GTR or a Porsche.

But then, your wife and daughter are going to have to go on a lot of "car dates" at $20 a pop to break that nut for you. Or they have a lot of nuts to pop..... well, you get the idea. :D

It wasn't the performance of the A6 that was a problem. It was just too much money for not enough car, and the ride quality sucked. $72k for a faster, stiffer version probably wouldn't help.

I know in that other thread you implied that you had impregnated both my wife and daughter and refused to pay for the abortions. I just wanted to point out to you that it's actually impossible to impregnate someone by masturbating to their picture on the internet. That's one of the reasons why you've failed so far to impregnate Tim Tebow, and not for a lack of effort, either.

My colorful remarks were in response to your multiple publicly posted personal attacks that went unchecked by yourself and the mods after multiple polite requests from me for moderation.

Regardless, one would have to actually drive the S6 to know what I am talking about. Read up on the S6's drivetrain and that twin turbo 4.0 liter V8 that is shared with the Bentley Continental GT before you write it off.

Tim Tebow has more character than 99% of the population and is a great example among the felons and narcissists in professional sports.

You should have used Manti "Gay Boy Te'o in your poor attempt to insult me. At least one of us would would have actually been gay and it would have been a little funnier.

Hey, feel free to choose whichever young, athletic twenty year old football player best suits your barely repressed erotic fantasies. Is Tim Tebow still actually considered a "professional" football player?

You really asked the mods for help, you big baby? Pathetic.

Maybe they aren't rushing to your aid because they deeply enjoy seeing you repeatedly get your ass handed to you.
