Still lots of questions to be answered, just like in the arrival of the G8s. Will they be imported through east bay Oakland just like the G8s? Will there be a two week customs clearance delay just like the G8s? Are they going to be on direct shipments, or numerous stops along the way, again like the G8s? Will there be a GM site where you can go to track your car, or see the production selection? With approximately 6 months to go before we see them in showrooms, from what we've been told, will all these things come around? There was a lot of speculation on the G8's, hopefully GM has learned from that and this will go much more smoothly. It would be nice if we got an inside GM Rep onboard, like we had with Pontiac and the G8!

We also have to take into account the boat ride. It would be nice if it was 3rd quarter but I sense that it may be a little later.
If it was anything like the GTO introduction it will probably be late November on into early December. At least that's about the time the '04's started showing up on dealer lots.

When I ordered my 2006 GTO in July of '05 I didn't receive it until the last week of November 2005 but you also have to factor in that I live on the east coast and it had to take a long train ride across the country.

Don't forget they are currently importing the Caprice from Australia, can't imagine things would change much. Heck they will probably just load up the SS models on a ship along with Caprice models.

Timing could depend on demand in Australia. If it exceeds what they have planned for, it could conceivably delay production of the SS to satisfy local demand first. I think unlikely.
The Redline edition, the closest model to the Chevy SS, was not available on initial release, suggesting they were still tweaking it. It is on sale now. Baring the above, I think they would definitely be coming off the line already, with the 1st shipment imminent. After all, we are now in the 3rd qtr.

Holden did the first model off the line bit with the Calais.
