Looking into a 18x9.5 or 18x10 for fitting on the rear of the SS in order to support drag radials.
I know the stock rear wheel is 19x9, et57. Have not seen a solid answer on the center bore.
Planning for a MT ET Street Radial II in one of the following sizes:
305/35/18
305/45/18 -- prefer this size, but it may be a bit too tall

All that said, has anyone looked into a pair of 18s in 9.5" or 10" for the rear of the SS? What are your findings? Is there an OEM wheel that fits this bill?

Info is in another thread: http://www.ssforums.com/forum/wheels-tires-suspension/5738-ss-wheel-cost.html

List price remains at $995, dealer cost is now $632.82, plus core charge

Think those are wheel only price. Navy Lifer can confirm.

What I have found for suitable wheels today:
Each wheel has the following spec: 18x9.5 et35 5x120
Volk
oTE37SL – Lightest $922.00/each retail est. 18-19lbs
Get Your Wheels: Gloss Black $899.00 (In stock)
oTE37 – Mercury Silver $1027.00/each retail
Get Your Wheels: Mercury Silver $999.00 (In stock)
oG07EX – $ 534.00 est. 25 lbs
Enkei
o RS05RR est. 21lbs
 Get Your Wheels: $540.00 (3 month wait)
Forgestar
oF14 is lightest at 19lbs
 Get Your Wheels: $350.00 (5-7 week wait)

I am sure there are more out there. While the TE37 is always a wheel I wanted, I think the Forgestar wheel is going to be the best value for an occasionally used wheel.

LiquidR3D -- Will the 17" clear the rear brakes. When it comes to the drag strip, I am all for a smaller lighter wheel that allows more side wall.

I have 17x9 American Racing Torque Thrust Ms and mounted 275/40/17 toyo DRs and they clear everything just fine. Are close to the control arms on the back side of the wheel but thats it.

well since we are talking rear i would suggest a 9.5 with at least a +45 or higher to clear the outer side with trying to get the largest tire in there with out rubbing. IMO a 305 is pushing it. i would say you can do it with a 295 but it has to be the perfect offset. when you start getting into exact offset you are looking into getting something customer or a 3 piece wheel. if you look at what the guys are running above they are running a 275. IMO that is good enough. there are cars that run in the 8's and 7's with a 275 ;)

to be honest i wouldn't use one of those above wheels for just a drag wheel. i know you know i know those wheels are good wheels... however obviously you are looking into running something small on the back just for drag racing not for a street use thing unless you like running 19s on the front and an 18 on the rear. because remember you aren't going to clear the front caliper with with anything in an 18... given you might get lucky on a few wheels but i would feel you are limited period.

Firehawk238 & Maverick Man -- Thanks, that is the information I was looking for. Looks like 305 will be too big. Stepping down to the MT ET Street Radial in 275/40/17 saves about 5lbs a tire/rotational weight... works for me.

Anyone know the offset of the 17x9.5 C5 Z06 wheels? I am seeing et54 online, assuming that is accurate, then the 275/40/17 should fit without issue.

Just to clarify, the Z06 wheel everyone is referring to is the C5 Z06 OEM Speedline wheel, or a replica of?

True, based on the small diameter of the 17" wheel and the offset I have (54mm) I used a 5.5mm spacer as the inside edge of the wheel ever so slightly rubbed the lower control arm under full compression.

The rear brakes on our SS are the same size as the Rear on the G8 GT, which I had the wheels on.

I just bought a set of new Quicktime Hoosier Drag Radials for these wheels to go on the SS. The NT-05R tires were amazing! But I saved $200 on the Hoosiers.

We definitely haven't looked into OEM offerings, but in terms of aftermarket we always used CCW for street duty wheels and Bogart for Race duty wheels.
+1 for CCW.

I actually had them make a set of skinnies for my SRT6 and they worked great...and even fit in the trunk so I could drive the car home from the track. CCWs would almost for sure fit the rotors on the SS in the front...and probably has something that they can make in 18" that would clear the rear discs as well.

When it comes time to really lay down good times in the 1/4 for me, I will definitely be looking into this route.

I talked to them and 17's should be no issue, so 18's would be even better in terms of clearance. These are the same as a G8 GXP and we have plenty of those out on 17's

Very interesting. I would definitely want to go the route of 17's then for the drag strip...less rim, more tire...definitely would be the way to go...you can probably reduce the offset to a 30ish and fit a wider rim/tire combination for the strip...

...off to do a little more research.

updated info needed on rear wheel sizing

This is an older thread that seems to have only addressed 2014 SS with the smaller (324mm) rear brakes.

Is there new info available to indicate what the limits are (how small can the rear wheel be) for the 2015 & later SS with 360mm rear brakes?

Other threads that already address this? Maybe a sticky is needed, or some thread merging AND a sticky!

Same situation with this thread--will the GTO 17" wheel fit a 2015 SS? I doubt it, but has anyone tried?

I ran a 17 inch with 2015 brembos out back on a set of rt-s ctsv offset with a 295 tire.

I would run a 17 rear and 18 front if drag only setup, if mixed then would go with matching rim size and 18 f & r.

A 275 drag radial or slick would be more than enough for this car and a stock diff, If you can't hook a 275 tire then its driver or suspension problems not the tire or power.
