so i had the car tinted today; 35 ceramic...as the worker from the place is driving the car to the front he runs the nose of a 3 day old car up on the curb...now only the geico gecko could see it, unless you lay down in front of the car, as fortunately he scraped up the bottom...he missed the actual nose by about 1/8", but it really pissed me off.
they offered to fix it, so i took it to the body shop for some advice, the guy i know there said if it was his car he would not touch it, because he would have to paint the whole front bumper and it would just not be the same.
the tint shop offered the tint free and a clear bra...

I want to do the fair thing, but i am not happy...so

what would you do?

Well the only things you can do are 1 - get it fixed or 2 - get the $$$ and keep it.

Depending on the damage maybe the Holden sports armour could cover it? Talk to crazy paul.

Not serious sounding but the paint will never match or age the same as the factory job.

His garage liability insurance has to pay for it!

His offer of free stuff is just crazy but I guess the theory of "you gotta try to get off cheap and not have an insurance claim' applies.

His offer is a JOKE!

Find another shop.

First I'd go BALLISTIC... then after scraping me off the ceiling I'd lick my wounds and take the free stuff...
Also, anyone in the future that has to drive the car but me would get a VERY STRONG WARNING before they got behind the wheel.......

I agree with every one else. As long as you can't see from any normal viewing position I would take the freebies and chalk it up to experience.

Like someone said, sooner or later you would have ended up doing it yourself. I can't tell you how many times I scraped the chin of the G8 in the 5 years we owned her...

Honestly man, it looks(in pictures I havent seen an SS in person yet) that Holden still cant match the bumper paint to the body so i'd have them repaint it, it may look better than the original. I know all cars are like this because bumpers are usually painted in a separate location but it seems to me that the Commodores have it worse than most. My sport red G8 has a horrible paint match between the bumpers and the body.

You don't want to mess with factory paint especially the bumpers. Everyone that I have seen repainted will fade and paint will crack.
This is from my experience with Corvettes 29 of them.

I'd hit them up for the cost of the sports armour to cover the damage plus about $100 (.8 hour flat rate) to install and a hefty discount on the work because of your inconvenience.

Giving you a discount on the work and getting rid of you just cuts into his gross profits which are hefty in his business. I never did business that way ... I manned up; fixed it right AND gave a discount or free for the work done and the employee paid for his stupidity and/or carelessness and I found that it either stopped PDQ and I had a trustworthy employee after that or he was gone real fast and deservedly so! That is how you make a customer for life who tells everybody how great you are and turns a bad situation into a proven business building opportunity! It sends a strong message to the other employees to do it right. I also was proud to make amends for the mistake in front of all the customers present ... not in the office with the door closed! Man I had other customers overhear it and come up and thank me for treating people right and send more customers my way! I never lost with this attitude ... only won a first class reputation as the place to go to!

I'm from a different generation though ....

To do the bumper refinish properly ... remove it, sand fill sand damaged areas, prime, paint with flex additive, bake, let cool overnight, reinstall. An expensive proposition ... if a shop says <$500 they are not doing it the right way!

I'm ordering the sports armour from crazy paul so I have it before my baby gets here! Still debating whether to get it put on during the PDI at my dealer. I need to see and touch it first before deciding. The mud guards are definitely going on though.
