I live about 30 miles from Benicia. AHHHH, yes the great big offloading area where all the cars from Asia are offloaded. Know exactly where that port is!!!! OK, dz28, what is the name of the ship???? I beleive shipping itinerary is a matter of public knowledge. How long would I camp there??? It gets foggy and chilly in the mornings over there. It is on my route to Sonoma(Sears Point) raceway whenever there is an event at the track. Need info---keep it coming!!!!!

I know Benicia very well. I used to work for GM in Overseas Distribution Corp. Benicia was one of the ports I managed. That was back in the mid to late 90's... love that town and Walnut Creek as well since I probably stayed there no less than 30 times in 4 years. No name on ship, my contacts are engineers and have little interest in logistics. I am keeping my ear to the ground though and live five minutes from GM's Milford Proving Grounds. Once production versions start showing up in town I'll snag some pictures of them running about town!

finally we get even close to seeing these in person in the U.S. and not just at a track but on the road, in dealerships, etc

I've seen them but all so far have been engineering prototypes. Saw several 2014 Camaro's in Milford at lunch today including a convertible. They are always running around town and many of the MPG folks commute east right past my sub. I'm always seeing interesting cars/trucks running through my streets...

Maybe! Still have a contact or two out in Benicia.... I'm also following the Benicia Herald that sometimes posts ship passage.... you just never know where the information may come from....

I actually saw an SS on Woodward (Michigan) two weeks ago, silver. Looked great in person, sounded pretty good with a mildly aggressive takeoff from the light with a driver in his early 50's or so.

It is assy plant code for where car is in line for production 3500 means it's built.

Could this be the week production starts??? "z51vett" gives me encouragement!! Hey z51vett, do you work at Holden??? Also, our inside man at the Holden plant, "asylum", where has he been??? Working hard settin up the line for our SS's??? Found out that transit time from Adelaide to Oakland (Benicia) CA. is anywhere from 22 to 34 days. Send me down there and I'll help row that sucker!!!
If I am reading this correctly, production started and 72 cars are on a transport in the Pacific ocean. That information matches up with another thread:
