Hello to everyone from here in North Alabama. I have been a member since around April, but have resisted posting to prevent getting caught up in the back and forth with TTC6. But now that he's banned,the SS's are beginning to show up and the forum has definitely taken a very positive, helpful direction, I’m all-in.
Currently,my only GM product is a 1982 Buick Regal Wagon street machine. It has a strong pump gas 455 Buick engine and runs 7.3s at 92 mph with high 1.50 sixty ft on street legal drag radials (see attached photos).
I am very interested in seeing performance tests on the SS. The idea of a 4-door rear wheel sedan with a proven Corvette drive train really appeals to me. While some may look for the latest drive train innovations, this performance oriented senior person would be more than happy with the proven and easily modified C6 drive train if the initial tests look promising.

Nice ride, but you have to be talking 7.3s in the 1/8 th mile...what's it run in the quarter?

The 7.3's are in the 1/8th; this is with the newly rebuilt motor with a hydraulic roller cam. With the old tappet cam motor, I ran a best quarter mile of 11.73 sec at Bowling Green,Ky's Beech Bend Raceway in 2005.
The current motor is about 0.15 sec quicker in the 1/8th; shoud run around 11.50 in the quarter. The normally aspirated motor runs on 93 octane pump gas. I'm very proud of it; it originally belonged to my Mother (as a little 6 cylinder/auto of course):biggrin: From all my research, the car is truly a one-of-a-kind in the stongly built drag race format but still street legal.

I too am a wagon lover. I currently drive a nice (last of the big GM wagons) '96 Roadmaster with the LT1 and woodgrain delete option. It's seen the full length of a New Jersey 1320 ft track on several occasions. It's a daily driven stocker though, no drag'n wagon, just a 4500 lb. 15.5 second grocery getter.
Sure would be nice if the wagon version of the SS would make it over here as well.

That's an impressive ride you have. I like that you went with a Buick engine. While I'm a true Chevy guy, you always see chevy engines in other GM makes and even some Fords :) so it's cool to see something different.

Also, in your initial post, you mentioned that you're interested in seeing the performance potential of the SS. If you get some free time check out some of the G8 forums (grrrr8.net and g8board.com). The GXP essentially has the same drivetrain as the SS so you'll be able to see what the capability is of this setup with the right modifications. You'll also be able to see what guys are doing with their G8 GT (6.0 liter - L76 engine). There a few guys running high 10's with their naturally aspirated G8 GT. One of my buddies ran a 10.75 in his GT but he has a supercharger, cam, and a few other mods, but his car is so tame that he could reliably drive it from New York to California and be in comfort. The potential that these cars have is amazing. I can't wait to see some of the SS guys start tuning and modifying their rides.
