Lane Departure Warning helps to combat the results of distraction and drowsiness on the road. It alerts you to any unintentional lane departures with an audible sound, keeping you, and your passengers on the right track.

Not exactly a very technical video. My G8 has this feature .... I call her my wife. :)
But at least with the feature the VF Commodore/Chevy SS has, it can be controlled and won't be all emotional with what ever problems it may have....can't say the same for the feature your G8 has :p

jk

on a serious note, i could care less if i get this tech or not, i've been fine without it for so many years and i will continue to..

I agree. I think a lot of this technology will train us to be worse drivers much the way antilock brakes train you to just stand on the brake now rather than learning avoidance techniques.
exactly

just another one of those nanny systems that will help people lack any judgement when driving and depend on a bunch of electronics to help them out. what sucks is that these things are becoming standard features, not things we can opt out for.

The Lincoln MKZ has a system that actually takes control by steering the car if you go off lane. I think the system with the SS is much better. I prefer to have full control, but I don't see anything wrong with a warning system.

When I have kids, I will just get the an old beater with a 5 or 6 speed manual shifter and clutch. This will be the only way future generations will be able to actually learn how to drive. No special tech or features for them.
