Yikes!!! I was half tempted to join you at Kil-kare, but had to take my son to a dentist appointment.

Mid 13's shouldn't be disappointing, don't expect the 12.9 magazine times. Lots of variables.

look like he has a full exhaust tune and cai i will be disappointed to if it was only 13's

Depending on track prep and what tires he used, it can be difficult to launch the car. With just a tune and street tires I ran 13.0X at the Rock, but had 2.2x 60 foot times due to tire spin either off the line or just past it as I applied full throttle. With the additional power, I would think the launch would be even more of a challenge.

E.T.s are a direct reflection of 60 ft and tire spin. Are we talking about a dragstrip or a road course? Also it's the trap speed that really show what kind of power you're making.....not your E.T.

275s out back are no match for 400 WHP (especially Bridgestones:biggrin:)

13.03 launching in drive. I hope people that think I was launching in 2nd using (D) are correct. Will find out tomorrow night at same track. Will be at T & T Sat. at National Trails to try a different track.

I dont think he was in second . My car almost NEVER starts in second in "D". Its obvious....first is EXTREMELY low, it shifts out of 1st almost immediately to second in normal driving unless you really put your foot in it. He definitely needs to have it in "Sport" mode. I would try a run or two using the paddles but doubt they will be any faster .

As mentioned , ET's are completely about the launch and traction. If he is at least under 2.0 60' he will run decent ET's (lower the better obviously). Trap speed will be the real indicator of his power. With what his dyno is showing , he should theorectically be capable of 113+ mph with good air and conditions.

Be sure everything is out of the car, go with only an 1/8 of a tank of gas (highest octane available), cool car between runs, lower tire pressure (and experiment a bit if needed), go around water box (but may try it also) for burnouts, try just scrubbing the tires with short burnout (just to get stuff off), HAVE FUN and dont stress about it!

Also, remember, many of the mag times are CORRECTED these days...not what they actually ran.

Normally I would agree. However go with AT LEAST 1/2 tank of fuel. You will need some weight back there. I went through the entire 1/2tank at the track. If you go with 1/8 of a tank and run out while there, not fun at all. Gotta keep that fuel pump submerged and cool.

Also I hot lapped my car for 15mins straight and got my best pass then. None of that "cool off your car between runs"

Drag Radials @ 30psi
1st run - 12:14pm - [email protected] 2.071 60'
2nd run - 12:17pm - [email protected] 2.003 60'
3rd run - 12:25pm - [email protected] 1.971 60'
4th run - 12:29pm - [email protected] 1.995 60'
5th run - 12:32pm - [email protected] - 2.014 60'
Drag radials @ 25psi
6th run - 1:32pm - [email protected] - 1.980 60'
7th run - 1:38pm - [email protected] - 2.054 60'

Last run on stock tires, 39psi and ZERO burnout!
20th run - 3:52pm - [email protected] - 2.046 60'

Keep your tires at the CORRECT PSI - I DID ZERO BURNOUT on the stock tires. Stock Potenzas on a Race Track surface = AWESOME BITE! Just as good as my drag radials.

I got a few 1.9X 60' but my [email protected] run had a 2.01 60' on Drag Radials - My 12.7 run on Stock wheels/tires was a 2.04 60'

I always ran my Nitto NT-05R Drag radials on the G8 @ 30psi. I was told to lower the Hoosiers down to 25psi to see how they would do, then later down to 20psi. Bottom line, they are NOT slicks. they need to be @ 30psi. All my runs @ 30psi on them were better than the runs as I lowered the pressure. This is all just my opinion from my experience, do with this information what you will.

And last, Can I drive your car?

Shriker the 60' times were all 2.0 or slower whereas my 2014 GT Mustang ran consistent 1.7s and an occasional high 1.6. Car felt slow and was!!

Traction was no problem, tried tires first at 28 psi with almost zero wheel spin. If I was in 2nd it would explain that but it seemed dead also on launch so maybe it was in 2nd. Stock tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S.

I tried under 1/4 tank with Mustang to lighten car once and when it shifted out of first each run it nose dived starving for gas, been afraid to run under 1/2 since?? These SS cars may have different fuel pick up system??

Haven't tried the paddles at the track, I like the sequential stick better I think??

I appreciate your input and will post what happens tomorrow night !

I would stop comparing your car to the Mustang first off.

Compare it to my car. They are EXACTLY the SAME CAR.

I gave you all the advise I can give you. Running your Street tires @ 28psi is one thing I think that is hurting you.

Your 60' times are the same as mine where as the rest you are half a second slower with more power.

More time behind the wheel practicing with your SS and less time comparing it to a Mustang is what is needed here.

Also, slide the shifter over to Sport mode and leave it alone. You cannot and will not shift the car better than the car can do for itself. No use in wasting time trying to do so.

You can lead a horse to water.......

Liquid....great advice....looks like you have it dialed in pretty well and had good conditions. Nice results.

Pigman .... with regard to the fuel, I mentioned 1/8 th tank ....but as mentioned sometimes you need more weight back there , not sure on these cars , have not had mine to the track yet. I would always arrive with less and add from a can I brought . I didnt mention that....that way I could always have what I needed .

I am sure you will go quicker/faster.....everyone has off days. IF it consistently lets you down , THEN you can start figuring out what is amiss....

Did either one of you guys get a race weight? didnt notice...

GREAT to have you both at the track already putting in real runs .....

See, the fact that you said "almost" never starts in second portrays doubt. It's one or the other in both modes. It's not situational, and has no idea your about to run full steam down a drag strip. Do me a big favor, take the old girl out for ice cream and put yer 'D' in that, I mean, put her in 'D' from a DIG go WOT. Then take her our for some frozen yogurt and put her in the S mode, from a DIG go WOT. Listen, Count, Feel & Enjoy.

1st gear is way too short to start out in for daily driving, in 'S' mode I can hear it try to escape 1st immediately!

P.s. He was launching really good in second gear.

The times he put down for what he did is hilariously badass. He would Roll most cars on the road in second.
