Vauxhall has given us the details on its upcoming 2014 VXR8 GTS. This V8-powered sedan is aimed at the likes of the Mercedes E63 AMG and the BMW M5.
The VXR8 GTS will ride on the same platform as the Chevy SS, but it has a sportier design characterized by angular bumpers on both ends, four exhaust outlets, bespoke tail lights and a trunk-mounted spoiler. The new sports sedan will be built in Australia by the near-death Holden division of GM.
The biggest difference between the SS and the VXR8 is that the SS is rated at 415 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque while the Vauxhall packs 576 ponies and 545 lb-ft of torque. The VXR8 can go from 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds. That is almost a full second quicker than the SS.
The Vauxhall VXR8 GTS will show its face for the first time at the Performance Car Show that will open its doors on january 9th, 2014, in Birmingham, England. It will sell for a base price of £54,999, which converts to about 90,000 USD.
