Adelaide 500 coming up, beginning tomorrow....just signed up for the entire year--$59.95 AUD, $44.50 USD.

Money well-spent to watch REAL racing, live or full race replays...does not change my desire/bucket list plans to take in Bathurst 1000 in October, and stay to the end of the season!

So what do you think of the new mustang in V8 supercars ,what they have done to the body shell shape to fit the control V8 supercar chassis.a lot of people here don't like it ,as it dose not look like the proper looking road mustang .

I have read on hsv's site the camaro won't join the field until the rules change becouse the 2 door body style won't fit over the current control chassis.

It was designed for a 4 door sedan and the mustangs body style was butchered to make it fit.

Makes it more NASCAR-like, for sure. That front shot clearly demonstrates how the "approved" racecar body gets stretched & pulled. I can imagine that (past)VF/Falcon, and now ZB/Mustang/Altima, et al, have all received some of the same treatment, but perhaps not so dramatically.

The current and past NASCAR mix--Fusion, Mustang, Camry and "Supra", VF Chevy SS & Camaro racecars are VERY different from the production models, since the intent is to standardize aero numbers on all of them. Not saying that this situation is right or good....and it is just part of the desire by sanctioning organizations to (supposedly) create a level of equivalency, to avoid resorting to other means to ensure that one brand isn't dominant, since the desire is to keep their manufacturer "partners" happy. At speed, the cars, away from their production versions, aren't noticeably/radically different--it is what it is.

First Adelaide qualifying race was run today (AU time)--#17 Mustang (McLaughlin) beat #88 ZB Commodore (Whincup) by 0.05 seconds--doesn't get much closer than that.

Nice to see Ambrose wheeling a car around--wish he was still here racing, but with NASCAR's focus on ovals, his skills were not being fully employed.

Sorry that you guys down under can't get Superview--that seems so unfair!

First race - Holden has work to do

race #3 of the season (32 total), 5 Mustangs finish at the front. First Holden was 6th (Tim Slade). DJR/Penske Shell cars were 1-2, Holdens were 6-8 & 10th.

Highest-placed Holden was about 4 seconds behind 5th and 16 seconds behind winner.

Melbourne weekend wrap-up

4 races, 4 Mustang victories

Podiums:
Race 3 - all Mustang
Race 4 - all Mustang
Race 5 - Holden 2nd & 3rd --front row Mustangs took each other out on warm-up, didn't start race
Race 6 - Holden 3rd

888 and Walkinshaw have work to do to put a dent in DJR/Penske's edge. Off to Tasmania in 2 weeks.

Sorry, nothing to report about Grid Girls....

This is On Topic, bear with it through the intro:
Had an insane roommate (6 months, about 4.5 months too long) who had an even crazier Irish Setter. Unbeknownst to us, the dog ate an entire launder's plastic suit bag. We thought the dog was passing his intestines and about to fall over dead when he extruded the suit bag. He ran off very happy with extra bounce in his step. The design of that Mustang somehow reminded me, in passing, of the crazy dog's snack, and the joy of the drivers in letting it all hang out.
^^^^^^
(TL;DR) The Mustang looked like dog poo.

Was really hoping to go to Bathurst 1000 this October. Timing and ever increasing expense of moving into new home in August will defer this bucket-list item until 2020.
Hope our local host in Sydney and Blackheath (anyone seen Rake?) is still his old self at that time. He's unpredictably fun. @Navy Lifer, if Krakatollah and I would be there for sure we'd have met up for a Fosters, the Fan Fuel of Choice.

Hopefully hsv will get the rollover hoop changes they have asked for approved by super cars,
Then both the camaro & mustang can use their factory sheet metal without extensive modifications and ending up looking like a dogs dinner in the process.
