I did not order vanity plates, and was kinda bummed that I had to give up my prior plates that were assigned because they started with BFD. Anyhow, I just got my new plates in and they start with CSS! So, I'm going to pretend I did that on purpose and now have a "Chevy SS" personalized plate. Did I ever mention I'm kinda cheap?

I did buy a black plate frame from Amazon that says "6.2 LS3". It was funny because in the description for it it listed all the cars it could be for (GXP, others) but no SS. I made the decision that it was ok to put on the SS.

Still no front plate mounted, and plans to do so.

This is the plate I just got a couple days a go. I have to use it on my Camaro SS until the new SS gets in, then transfer it.

I ordered this because, NASCAR is my favorite sport, it will be on a 2014 SS, the number 14 is the car of my favorite driver, my favorite driver also drive the SS, and the colors match the Red Hot 2 ...

Do you guys need a car before you can order vanity plates.
Here they are separate, we can order the plates without a car and have them issued later.
When I brought the Tucson I gave my JT 1963 plates to the dealer, the car was delivered the next day with my plates fitted.

If I want to keep them I have two options
1, go to RTA take plates off and have new plates issued to the car on the spot and keep mine at home, to be used later.
2, have the dealer do the change over (new dealers only) trade car gets the new plate, your new car gets the vanity plate

In the States I think it depends on which state your from. That being said, in Florida without having the car I had to register the new plate to an existing car then transferred the plates after the new car comes in. In Florida the dealer can only issues temp plate and transfer plates. If you want a personal plate it has to be purchased after the issue of dealer temp.

For me I registered the new plate to my 2010 Camaro, because we are up in the air about trading it in. My wife is attached to it because it's a Transformer Special Edition. Myself I don't get attached to cars, but if the dealer low balls me on my trade I'll just keep it ... That will give me the Camaro SS, Camaro ZL1, and the Chevy SS to choose from.

I had vanity plates on the SS that I had registered from my trade in. I had to redo the registration and order the new tags which cost $115.58. It only cost $4.50 to transfer my other plates to the SS though.

I want to get a new plate but need to wait until next year. Currently I have a retro plate with initials on them (wife's and daughters). Thinking of something catchy for next year.
