In case anyone was wondering what a U-haul hitch would loook like on the SS. Here are some pics. I should have done this years ago…. Now I have a legit bike rack. No more messing around with taking wheels off etc.
I only got the hitch. No wiring or any other add-ons. 150 for instal and 150ish for the hitch.
Bike rack is Kuat V2 transfer.
Next I’m hoping to get a sea sucker roof rack so I can put kayaks on top.
The Chevy SS Outback edition lol.

Good to know. Obviously it’s not the most aesthetically pleasing but serves a purpose. I have a hitch and same style rack on my TDI wagon. That’s probably the most versatile car I’ve ever owned. Always keep my eyes open for a Holden rack for the Chevy though.
This is awesome, and good on you for doing it. Any car with a tow rating should absolutely have a hitch, and the philosophy that trucks are the only allowable towing vehicles is nonsense.
My other car is an ‘85 Porsche 928, and I’d give my eye teeth to get ahold of one of the factory tow hitches for it.
This is so true. The rest of the world isn’t truck obsessed. I saw a Prius towing a small U-haul trailer in NJ this past summer. The hitches are not pretty on a lot of cars and that’s ok.
I’m excited to get the sea sucker rack for my kayaks. I’ll post photos when that happens 😎
I towed 2 uhauls from Albany to New Jersey with my TDI and despite not using 6th gear and maxing my speed at the speed limit I got 33mpg. Hard to make the case for needing a truck when the 2 times a year you think you “need” one you can get a 20 dollar uhaul.
Pretty cool these things can tow 2100kg/4600lbs braked or 750kg/1600lbs unbraked.
