So I'm going to have to play in CAMC if I want to autocross. Anyone have an idea of how wide of a tire can fit in the front? I'm not currently lowering the car due to not wanting to mess with the magnetic suspension. So if I want to go down to 18" wheels I'm trying to figure out how close I can get to 315 all the way around!

I'm running a square setup: 19x9.5 +35, Conti DWS06 285/35R19. Not lowered, no interference issues unloaded, was getting some slight rubbing on the rears with a full trunk and only on whoop-de-doos. Lightly rolled the rear fenders and have yet to have a reoccurrence.

I think an 18 in the front would be a difficult fit without molesting the brake pads. Anyone tried this ?

I don't have tires mounted yet, but I'm going to run 18" wheels in the winter. Tire Rack said they'll fit, confirmed in the wheels & tires thread here by another SS owner. They're skinny, though (8.5") - certainly won't take a 315!

will they clear front calipers?? Was wondering, looking at my car it looks like you might could get an 18 on there. Just by looking it seemed to me that one would have to cut the dampers off the front brake pads to clear the inner diameter of the wheel.

I've been very interested in running a 285 up front since I've had my SS so I've done a lot of searching and research but haven't gotten a solid yes answer on fitment yet...
The widest I've seen anyone run up front is a 285 but most report some issues with them.
However there is a special edition car in AUS that runs 285s up front and I would assume they got it dialed in just perfect, still trying to figure out how...

They're supposed to - I'll find out for sure as soon as I pick up a set of X-ices.

You want a minimum 10" wide wheel for a 315. Even thats probably too narrow technically.
I doubt a 10" wheel would fit up front without rubbing.
Strut clearance will be your challenge. I'm running 9.5" wide +35 and it's pretty close (no contact, though). 10" wide can only push outboard farther, and mine are just barely under the fender as it is.

See my response above and the link to my square setup running 285/35R19 DWS06s with no issues up front. I did a light fender roll on the rears to alleviate occasional contact on big dips with a fully-loaded trunk.

I've read through your thread a couple of times and followed it from the beginning. ?
I consider the tire rubbing on the strut during spirited driving an issue.

It never happened again. I think it was because I had not checked the tire pressure (was ~30psi from the tire shop) when I did my test drive and that allowed the sidewall to flex a little more than normal. I've seen no further evidence of rubbing now that I run them at 36-38.
