i debated to come on here because of all the griping about the SS not enough horse power, cost to much, not LT1, no stick shift, people saying this or that is a better value. though it seems most of those people left, bought different car or just got banned. to me if you don't like it don't buy it. but then again this is an autoforums page and that type of posting is expected. Lol! gotta love to hate forums and so it was time to join.

ok enough of that. i ordered my SS a week or so after dealers were allowed to accept orders. since then though i was able to confirm with GM corporate directly that my car will be built in Nov and they gave me the exact week. they told me it should be here in early january. that should tell most of you when the next ship is going to leave with an average transit time form AU to the US of six weeks. knowing the right people always helps. though i am sad that car didn’t make it on the first boat.

about myself if any of you care…. though the years i have owned many different cars mostly domestic ones but this will be my first “Chevy”. however to be honest i am only buying it because it is a Holden. some of you will probably hate me for that and that is fine. however i have watched Holden for years before the GTO came here, i love the LS motor and have always been a follower of V8 Supercars. so when i saw that they were going to bring this here, i was all over it regardless of price. if i had to pay 80k for a UTE i’d buy it! lol!

at this time now i own a 06 GTO and a few other cars that have been featured in major magazines such as , Hot Rod, Car Craft, Muscle Car, GM HighTech, Classic Cars, about 5 other Ford (am i allowed to say Ford here? Ha ha) magazine publications including a Car Tech book and twice on Hot Rod TV. bottom line i love cars and i don’t care if it is a Ford, Chevy or Import as long as it is different, stands out from the rest tastefully and i think the SS can do that if done up right.

below is a photoshop job i threw together and is what i invision mine to look like over time. this image is actually a HSV but in general it is the same body style and it is a conversion i would like to do. anyhow this image is a tad lowered with a set of Forged Volk G25 wheels on it. i already ordered these wheels so hopefully the offset will work. lol!

here is is with a blackwheel option

now some of you may know me from the parts i build for the GTO and G8. for those who don’t, i manufacture real carbon fiber goodies for the GTO and G8. spoilers grills, hoods etc. i am happy to say i will also be making aftermarket carbon fiber parts for SS as well. i already have in hand now, parts for the SS and a few Holden swap parts too! just thinking ahead for my personal SS as well as ideas on what can be made. you can check out what i obtained so far from AU here:

https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=529428247139817&set=gm.427947473977468&type=1&theater

and here:

https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=507088356040473&set=gm.409131815859034&type=1&theater

basicly just chaning anything that is chome to black or carbon fiber will be the idea.

lastly hopefully though my many connections i will be able to bring some useful information here. earlier in the year on a SS facebook group here:

https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/241520822620135/

i let the news out before it was released to the public, the exact motor size, transmission and wheel/tire size on the SS. i am sure some of you here on here saw that but it was info no one else could get. i am also not sure if any of you also know that the VE/G8 radiator cover is also the same holden part number as the VF/SS ;) so any info like that hopefully will be helpful here.

anyhow i am looking forward to this car!

I'm right with you, Maverick Man! Only reason I bought a G8 is because it was a Holden. Sorta became a Pontiac fan after the fact. I'm not really a Chevy guy, I would only buy the SS because it's a Holden and would likely take all the Chev stuff off and put the Holden badges on (at least with the SS, its an easy conversion!).

Now, I do the HSV replica wheels, so if you're ever interested, I think they would look great on the SS! Hit me up! Post pics when your car gets in!

It doesn't make much sense that your car didn't make the first shipment when it was ordered as early as most cars were.
Oh well another GM mystery. The car looks great! Best of luck with it.

My ute turned 2 months old on the 20th & I love it more every day.
I've just clocked 3500 km's on the odometer with no problems.
My only complaint is the white/grey trim inserts. I think over time these things
will get really dirty if left untouched. Apart from that I absolutely love the car..

I was asking myself if you were the guy from the carbon parts lol. And I know what you mean: growing up in Brazil in the 80s/90s pretty much every Chevrolet on the streets was Opel-sourced or based. Having the Opel Omega manufactured locally cemented Chevrolet as the "national" luxury brand. When it's local production ceased in 98, they made an unexpected move: import the unknown Holden Commodore to our shores. Much was expected of it thanks to its predecessor's success, and it did not disappoint, earning the kind nickname "Australian Omega". Well, after 3 generations of Commodores in the family and just returning from a month vacation in Brazil that included a 400km roadtrip in the dad's Zeta, I was reminded why I hold this car in such high regard. I see all these people (*ahem* TTC6 ;)) dissing it for its badge, name or for not having this engine or that transmission and forgetting the obvious: numbers don't tell the whole story. This is a car designed by passionate people that know and love what they do, and it shows. I hope the Australian industry keeps going on for a long time. You've made diehard fans at the other side of the globe.

haa haa yes that is me and thanks! ;). the Omega! that is a Cadillac Catera here! lol! that car shares the same door handles, hood struts and windshield wipers from the VZ/GTO. i almost bought one for like $1500 bucks but after i found out how bad that motor is and the recalls those things had i had to double think buying it. then when i heard the VF was coming i pass on it. that $1500 will pay for the gas tax! lol!

Welcome... was going to do the CF spoiler and all of my G8's (3 to date with 2 being GXP's w/M6) but never kept any one of them long enough! I plan to own at least two of the SS cars over the life span (currently 2014-2017) with at least one being an M6.... looking forward to your parts for the SS.

I think you we're saying that on that one post I asked you about that. But I am still confused how could you know what motor or transmission they were using when all that info was only a few days before info was release. All that info was embargoed. 2012? GM US didn't even plan to bring it here at that time. Either you know someone way up top at GM corporate because your story does not make sense.

I guess you can put a deposit down on a 2019 car but that doesn't mean it will be accepted. Just because you put an order in doesn't mean you will get the car. You order probably went in with everyone else when the dealers were able to enter them in the system which was only in July if I remember correctly.

those are some sweet looking photoshops.

No doubt the SS will be a sweet looking car and a fast one at that if some money is put into it

But even stock its a head turner for me.

Welcome to the forum!
Best thing to do at the moment is to order one through Callaway but it's $18k on top of the cost for an SS. Easy way to go fast though.

thanks... i think people need to envision what the car "can" look like. i think the same goes for the GTO or G8 they both look like every other "car". i mean if you want of the lot car that looks like "wow" then just gobuy a vette or camaro and well, look like everyone else. but personally, if can envision a vehicle such as myself. then you can get what most people think is ok to look really good. just my 1 cent. ;)

So just HOW did you get that information on your build? NOONE at customer care can tell us anything, the dealer can't tell us anything and on and on.... best kept secret since D-Day! Is there a website for corporate to get that information? a phone number? Our order was done late in August and we still cant get anything on it
