Improved performance primarily. I have a noisy C5 Camaro when I need sound, I have a mildly modified exhaust on my Mustang GT that my wife likes, and with the SS intended to be a daily driver it needs more performance, a bit more sound, and build quality superior to OEM (i.e. brackets and pipes do not rust up...).

Similar to stock but with larger diameter pipe with mandrel bends, stainless of course, balance/x pipe, no droaning, dual dual exits that extend into the muffler, in other words, no fake tips.

When you say exhaust I assume you mean cat back only at this time?
More performance
A little more growl
No droning at cruising speeds (55, 60, 65, 70, 80 mph)
Possibly quad tips
Would not mind a V-Band rear section that you could swap for optional race/higher flow mufflers or quickly drop the mufflers
Stainless
Non-rust hangers with proper welds that do not break

We are doing headers and exhaust......

More performance-CHECK
A little more growl-CHECK
No droning at cruising speeds (55, 60, 65, 70, 80 mph)- NEVER
Possibly quad tips- MORE THAN LIKELY
Would not mind a V-Band rear section that you could swap for optional race/higher flow mufflers or quickly drop the mufflers- INTERESTING
Stainless- 304 STAINLESS MADE HERE IN THE USA!
Non-rust hangers with proper welds that do not break- 304 STAINLESS MADE HERE BY GUYS WHO TAKE PRIDE IN THEIR WORK

Hello Rich, With any tubular header system in a closely confined area, my concern would header heat. How will you address any underhood heat ??? And will your systems be legal in this goof ball land of California???

We will address issues like that during our R&D session

The headers cannot be CA compatible, but the cat back exhaust will be.

Great to hear of this progress!

How about a 2.5 & 3 in cat-back exhaust system...CARB Except Headers for CALIF cars...X pipe, Axle-Back system with either large single tip or larger dual tips that fill opening-welded to mufflers and also "Loud-Mouth" axle-back system..The Drone is always a setback and can be eliminated somewhat during design/R&D phase I would hope!

As for the headers:
Stainless
Thermal coating option
If you plan to make a cat pipe to replace the cats, could make the whole system V-Band
Stepped primaries
Anti reversion chambers
At one time there was discussion that D-Shaped primaries (a flat floor) would allow tighter fitment and lower exhaust restriction. But add greatly to the build process.

If possible, retain oil cooler (or relocate as found on Camaro & CTS-V) if that makes cooler viable/compatible with headers.

http://www.ssforums.com/forum/116225-post15.html

4-2-1 piping or tri-y design - IF that would enhance the possibility of stock cooler retention - and for better torque in the mid-range (under 4500 - 5000 RPM), where most header benefit is realized anyway, especially in a closed system.

We are shooting for retaining the cooler so the the Caprice PPV guys will be able to use our header as well.

Not exactly sure what design we will go with until the car is here and on the lift.

Rich, to be sure you are clear about this, Caprice PPV and SS use the same oil cooler configuration.

No one here is aware of any other G8 header that allows oil cooler to be retained when the G8 headers are installed on PPV, and install dimensions SHOULD be same for G8>PPV>SS.

That is exactly why we are going to try to retain the oil cooler.

In theory our new SS/PPV header should also work on the G8's w/o coolers, but we will test fit them on a local G8 once they are developed.

Drone is the kiss of death for a exhaust company. We work very hard to develop systems void of drone.

Drone occurs when the frequency the exhaust is producing matches the particular frequency that causes detrimental harmonics inside the car that are sometimes unbearable.

There are many factors that create drone such as engine size, cam specs, exhaust pipe diameter, shape of bends, muffler design and it's placement(distance) from cylinder heads, etc.
