I was surprised to hear that they were going to produce the Z06 with an automatic transmission and the removable roof.

I think a Corvette should only be a manual transmission, but thats just me. On the flip side, the SS being an automatic is perfectly acceptable to me, and even if it was available with a manual, I probably would have selected the auto anyway. Weird I know, but its a sedan.

Wonder where that's gonna leave the big dog, the ZR1 ...
I don't want to start a long thread but from what I hear the ZR1 is going to be something incredible..... not what you expect either....

No V10 that I've heard of... From what I hear it is so much more in terms of performance. Figure north of 700 horse and drivetrain layout might be a factor... It will easily become one of the top supercars in the world....

It will be based on the LT1, because that engine is just too good to go to another platform. I figure they used a 1.7 S/C for the LT4 and got 625bhp out of it, so if they went with a 2.3 a 725-750bhp should be reachable.

Couldn't agree more. The price of entry for a V8 RWD car is going to shock folks when 2015 CAFE req's kick in. Trying to ensure I lock in right before in gets ugly. Ideally the SS and a Camaro with a blower....

Awesome car, but can't they come up with new engine codes. Come on, the LT1 has been used 3 times now and now the LT4 at least twice...

I highly doubt there will be a new ZR1
I think there is a reasonable shot. Post bankruptcy GM has tried to focus energy and talent on making money. Vettes make money; all of them....

The highest price z06 had a z07 option brakes and tires off zr1 carbon fiber hood, mag ride and PTM side skirts and spoilers listed for 104,000 Zr1 113,000 base and 125,000 loaded up regular Z06 about 90,000 loaded. Mine was a tad under 90,000 since I didn't know about the mag ride and PTM with the 19/20 mich option. 2500 option verse 1800 chrome mags.
