Newbie here.
I'm really looking at maybe buying one of these cars.
I recall GM installed the 9.5 rear axle into the SS Blazer years ago.

What did GM install into this 2014 SS ?

Is this a trick question?
I think he is serious...:question:his concern mst be is the same one that went into the F bodies. I broke 3 of them in 25,000 miles..I had a stick shift.

To answer the question, no, it's not that rear end. This one is IRS that one was a solid diff.

I've seen stock axles handle over 600 rwhp, so you shouldn't have any concerns with it.

Actually it is the same as the G8 GXP rear. The Camaro rear is slightly bigger and better.

The actual size is 8.6 " , but for the sake of conversation we can just say 9" with an aluminum pig.

Only the ZL1 and Z/28 are bigger, they are 10" with iron pigs ... (actual size is 9.875)

Gear ratios w/ 6l80e
First: 4.03
Second: 2.36
Third: 1.53
Fourth: 1.15
Fifth: 0.85
Sixth: 0.67
Reverse: 3.06
Final drive ratio: 3.27

Z/28 will use the same rear as the Camaro SS ;) with the exception it will have a fluid cooler added to the rear cover.

Camaro SS uses a 218mm ring gear - 8.58"
ZL1 use a 250mm ring gear - 9.84"
G8 GT, GXP and Chevy SS also use a 218mm ring gear, but a slightly different design from the Camaro
