Aside from the flaming SS pace car, the racing looked pretty good, hopefully we'll see better racing this season. In Nascar I mean.

It was due to the strobe lights batteries in the trunk... just going off what I saw inside the trunk while it was on fire. We had to disconnect the regular battery, located in the trunk as well on these cars but on the drivers side, it had no burn marks.P"

Saw this on another forum I frequent. Some of the comments about the SS in general are ridiculous. It's amazing how car enthusiasts can be so misinformed about what the SS is and what it was meant to be. Many haven't given it a chance and won't realize how great of a car it is until it's no longer available (hopefully that's not anytime soon though).

Same here...I am amazed at the negativity from many in the G8 community...lots of comments that it is "just" an updated GXP and I'm thinkin' what's wrong with that? I get that the car is out of the price range of many, but I would bet the majority of G8 owners didn't buy new either.

I was just going to post something about this when I saw your comment. I spend some time over on the G8 forums and I can't believe how many of them don't like the SS. One of the comments I've seen the most is 'It's not aggressive looking enough' Are you kidding me? Is that what Pontiac guys are into? **** I'm mid 40s and I want something subtle. I don't want a car that screams 'Pull me over!' when you go by a state trooper going a little faster than you should be. I think the understated look of the car is one of the best features. There's nothing better than pulling up to another car at a light and having that other person think he's going to blow past you when it turns green and then leaving him behind wondering what hit him. So much fun.
Also is this site and the G8 site run by the same people? I registered over there (G8board) and clicked the link in the email they send you to validate it's you. But I'm not able to post or anything over there. I sent the webmaster two emails over the past five days but have received no responses.

I agree, quickly approaching 40 (wife is already there... LOL), the sleeper status is much preferred. The child car seat in the back helps with that image.
I never considered the G8 aggressive in design, no offense G8 owners. At least not aggressive to the extent of the Magnum SRT-8 or CTS-V, then again everything is relative.
The SS is not for everyone. It will take time to grow on some and others will never gain a taste for it.
If production ends tomorrow because the majority do not like the looks, choice of colors, the standard auto trans, the fact they cannot lease one or want to nickle and dime the already bargain price, then so be it... I have mine and am plenty happy with it.

the hate from there and almost any group forum right now is almost unbelievable. every G8 owner who has bought an SS realizes it is a better car period. i find that hard to deny.
people saying it should be a 35k obviously hasn't bought a new car lately anyone saying they are marked up obviously has went to go buy one. people saying that the GXP was cheaper... What? 44k when I went to the dealer to buy one explain that? or like myself saying the 2009 G8 is a rip off because i bought my GTO in 2007 for 25,250 new what sense would make? one i think you hardly saw was GTO owners saying the G8 was a ripoff.
those saying it is too bland obviously have no creativity or vision for fixing up a car. however most that don't like the look are driving stock looking G8s which would explain a lot.
lastly those who say it is just a few electronic extras also obviously haven't driven or used any of the equipment. i almost bust up laughing when all they say it just has navigation over the G8 and that isn't worth the extra money.
i personally have nothing against the G8 i like the car but to not realize reality it just plain ignorant. fine you like your G8 h3ll I like my GTO doesn't mean I think the SS is a horrible car. A plain comparability is G8=3 series - SS=5 series simple as that. you don't see 3 series guys going "5 series is a rip off"
over all i thought i would expect better from that community almost sad.
one of the admins over there is an idiot almost turned me off from making parts for the G8.
