For those that would like to know Chevy dealers are getting ready to open up ordering for the SS. They will be receiving their ordering guides mid-month along with a few webcasts to go over how ordering will work with this car. There isn't a set date that orders officially open yet (most likely in the next month) but this is a good sign for the people that want one.

I would suggest talk to the inventory manager at your local Chevy store instead of a random salesperson (most around my place are ignorant when it comes to new vehicles...actually any vehicle at all now that I think about it) if you really are interested in staying up to date on this car and when you can get one.

Thanks a lot for this info, how did you find this out? Through your chevrolet dealership? Or do you work for Chevrolet?

Time to start looking out for Chevy SS ordering info or anything related, i'll keep an eye out for everyone here.

Is this for dealers to order for their inventory, or will Holden also be building to order for individuals? I'd be pleasantly surprised if they were taking orders from buyers, but I'm guessing the reason there are so few options and colors available was because they wont.

As I understand the ordering process for SS, it will be a case of " you order it, with all of the options you want. " all two of them by the sounds of it. Sunroof and colour.

Hopefully that changes by the second year to include a manual and a wider colur palette. Dealers that either are getting interest now or think they can sell one will possibly order as inventory without a pre order.

Just unsure of the limit for volume for the 1st model year. Said to be around 1000, however could possibly be more.

I am willing to venture a guess that every SS ordered for inventory will have a sunroof.
Even if you don't want a roof, it's a smart option for resale.
Frankly, it's one of the only options I always order.
Sunroofs are worth having. People say they add weight, but it's not that much. Especially on street vehicles were you won't see the difference in performance.

Before I never liked the idea of having a sunroof but one of the cars I wanted came with it, everyone of them came standard with it, ever after having it, I feel in love!

Panoramic roof would be cool, but thats better left to cadillac.

Too hot down here. I've had one in all of the last six cars and the shade is drawn 99 percent of the time.

When i was a smoker, having a sunroof was the best thing ever! Crack the sunroof open half way or have it tilted, have your cup to ash in and your set!

No need to crack the side windows open and have air blowing all over the place, moving your ashes, making the car dirty and possibly burning/staining the interior materials.

Any smokers in here that do this?

I hate smoke and smokers.
I will not buy a car owned by a smoker.

I doubt Chevrolet SS performance sedan's will be built in numbers according to the amount of pre-orders received or even built-to-order. After all they did say it would be a limited production vehicle so my guess is that they will be building the xxxx amount of Chevrolet SS's they want, on maybe a monthly basis? So xxx Chevrolet SS's a month being built
