I read an article posted in another Thread about the upcoming SS. It mentioned toward the end that its expected to have engine options similar to the Camaro. This came as a surprise to me since all the talk has been that the SS will be a limited or "niche" performance car. I wouldn't think that such a car would be available with a V6 or anything less than big V8. If they did offer different powerplants how would they classify these trims? SS-6? SS-V?

This then makes me wonder if there would be a lot of different options available like any other car. From the release of the VF Commodore it was mentioned that a lot of the bells and whistles will be offered as standard equipment in Aus; will that be the same here?

I just assumed, I guess, that the SS would come over here as a standard package already optioned up with only having a manual/sunroof and a few others as available options.

Exactly, I wouldn't either.

Comments in the article just don't seem consistant with what the exec's are saying.

I was always under the assumption the Chevrolet SS will only have one engine without any options for other engines.

With a V6 it will be crazy slow. V8 is a must! LT1 would be awesome

I'm thinking the only options will be something like this:

Manual/Automatic
Sunroof/No Sunroof
Exterior Color
A couple different interior options
Maybe a couple different wheel options

Thats it.

I have heard it referred to as a 4 door Vette, so no way a 6 should be in the mix. Minimal options like Jmac said.
