My SS should be here in the next couple of weeks(black, roof, spare). Would like to replace the bow tie on the trunk lid with a red SS emblem and remove the white one the right side of the trunk lid. Also put red SS emblems on each front fender. Not to show off but just add to the mystery as what the h--- was that. It would be nice to replace the bow tie on the grill but will have to see it first. Any ideas on availability, sizes etc.

I know it's been a year, but how did this work out for you? Any pics? I'm especially interested in the side SS badges you were planning on putting on your fenders.

I've been planning the same thing and I've got three red SS badges on order. I can't decide what the optimal placement on the fenders is. I think I know why GM opted not to have them as standard--the fakie side vent interferes with where such badges "should" go.

At this point, I'm feeling that the best placement would be right behind the vent and just above the low horizontal line that runs from the vent to the rear wheel. Sort of like where some Cruz have the RS badge.

Anyone else done anything similar?

I spent like $114 from some Ebay vendor for a pair of GM-authorized, all metal, aluminum SS emblems. I primed the middle sections several times, laid down many coats of my as-yet-undelievered 2015's exterior color [Jungle Green] then clear coated the **** out of them. I want to place them under those fake ventilation things on each side of the front fenders. Steelwoolghandi did the same on his white SS, except they're Holden SSs. I can give you more specific vendor info and pictures if you'd like.

I'd like to see pics. The aluminum ones sound great, too bad I've already got the red badges on the way. Can't wait to see them on your car. Any idea when you'll take delivery?

Scooter Trash,

Her is the "recipe" I gave another member of the forum;

It is an OEM 1970 Malibu SS grill badge. Since I grew up in the "Muscle Car" era, I just knew it was the "perfect fit" for the SS! I got it from YearOne for about $75 including shipping.

The installation is totally custom.
You have to remove the bowtie, which is challenging, at least for me, without breaking anything! And "fix" (grind/drill/reshape) both the car's grill and the badge until it fits.
Is not that difficult but you have to be careful, have the proper tools (a
dremel is a must!) and have a lot of patient! Grinding/drilling as little as possible and fitting/measuring as many times as necessary. If not, it may cost you a new grill and/or a new badge since both pieces are kind of delicate.

Hope this helps and good luck!

It reminded me of the 70 396 Chevelle SS. I loved that car, couldn't afford it.
Not to worry, I am a Dremel master, I use it for everything. Guess you have to take the front end off to get to the rear of the bowtie is that correct?
Thanks and if you have any other tips they would be greatly appreciated.

Don't you mean 1970 Chevelle? Do not remember a 70 Malibu. The year One part I am looking at is for a 70 Chevelle PN: 1079NR discounted from $61.99 to $55.99

Yes, you are correct!
Chevelle in US, Malibu in the ROTW!:lol2:
I forgot to mention, the only tricky part is attaching the emblem to grill. The emblem have two long non-threaded "prongs" on the back designed for the Chevelle grill. So, you'll have to use your best "fabricator" skills!
