All...Just wanted to show what the Chevy Bowtie looks like when color matched to the car...I did both front/rear and center caps...

(Note: when the body shop removed the front emblem they broke the tabs which they said would happen based on design and then the rear emblem was replaced as the double sided tape was removed upon removal...could not be used again!)...Cost for new emblems plus painting about $275 for this look)...

Very nice! Color matched or dipped would be the way to go.

I really like that look.... Glad to see some one was able to get that done... I asked a local chevy dealer's body shop manager about painting the emblems black on my SS(He kept asking "SS what?.... Cobalt SS?, Camaro SS?, Impala SS?...") I said.... "Umm...SS Sedan". Finally had to get up, walk outside, and see for himself what I was talking about.
Another guy behind a desk said "if the rear emblem was removed
I might have to paint the deck also. They might damage it when removing it.
I got the strongest feeling that they just didn't want to take on the job so, I left. I'll try
Another shop later today.... I'm encouraged again. Thought I was going to have to

I plasti Dipped my front and rear emblems black (the gold part only). Looks pretty good, my first time using Plasti Dip, I did 4 coats but may need to do one or two more. Definitely way better than the gold! I like your black bow ties on your wheels Badass, I don't trust myself to be able to do that and I aim too cheap to pay a place right now. I know I'll be asked to share pics, and I'll do that as soon as I have time, it's a process to get pics on here for me.

Also, I removed the ugly yellow warning stickers from the sun visors, they came off pretty easily and then I used an adhesive removal to get the small amount of residue off that was left. Those are the extent of my changes so far..... oh, and tinted the windows with a ceramic film, that was done on day 1!

Question for other SS owners: does your sunroof auto close? Mine auto opens but I have to hold the button down the whole time to close it, manual says it should auto close. I think I I know the answer to this one: I smell a different odor from the exaust, there was appx half a tank of gas in the car when I test drove it and the dealer filled it with premium. I'm thinking the different odor I smell is the Aussie fuel that others have mentioned on here? It's like a burnt plastic kind of smell, not real strong but noticable when behind it and it's running. I have 250 miles right now so haven't had to fill up again. Just curious.

Edit: I was asked by a coworker yesterday if it was a Cruze, I corrected her as politely as I could :)

Any legitmate body shop should be able to perform this task and not question having to repaint the deck lid...I had mine done by the dealership body shop...Note the rear bowtie does have two small "line up" pins that goe through the deck lid should you want to remove yourself...Use paint warmer gun and/or actual fishing line to remove! Use caution and be easy...

Looks great but I couldn't imagine spending that kind of money on such a simple mod. I did this on my Camaro SS. I actually contacted a shop and got a ridiculous quote so I just did it myself for a few bucks. Sanded them down, added a little primer and then painted and glossed. I bought some 3M double sided tape to reattach the back bowtie. Definitely a great appearance mod though. Very nice!!

Plasti Dipped bowtie

Land vehicle Vehicle Car Headlamp Motor vehicle

4 coats of plasti dip, my first time but it wasn't too hard. Peeled off and created a pretty good edge on it's own without any cutting. I guess that's why people like it so much!

Slap your coworker. About the smell, have somebody check around the exhaust. You might have picked up some stray plastic somewheres.

I would have walked out the door if a Chevrolet body shop manager did not know what the SS Sedan was after telling him just a SS sedan. There is no excuse for any employee at a Chevrolet dealer to not know what model cars they sell.

LOL...the salesman that helped me didn't even know either nor did he even have a clue that it actually was in the back lot...I found him then he had no clue what kind of Chevy SS Sedan...I've always educated myself prior to buying anything from the dealer...Most sales peps are hired w/o any prior automotive knowledge...

There are also vinyl overlays designed for just this purpose. I'm not sure if there are SS specific ones out there yet, but if the badge dimensions are the same as another model, you could order those. These cost just a few bucks and come in a vast array of colors. I like this option because it's DIY taking just a few minutes, completely and easily reversible and cheap.

I don't believe overlays will work on the bow ties due to the surface texture. Maybe if they were sanded down.

On that note: None available yet...The front is different shape than Camaro or any other GM vehicle and the Rear is smaller than any other at this time...Also the Camaro over-lays & SS inserts do not work...Our SS logo is larger...That's why I color matched and had the body shop do a professional job to avoid any of the paint peeling issues on the emblems...

Looks 1000% better than the gold! (I would still swap to the Holden emblems, though!)
