OK, it’s winter here, there’s snow on the ground and these photos aren’t the best but they do show how great the Silver SS looks with blackout trim. More than anything, I like the look of the vents; I never liked the original vents from the minute I saw the first promotional photos.

I got the Nose Kit from Crazy Paul ([email protected]): upper and lower front grill surrounds, lower DRL surrounds and front fender vents. I also ordered the 4 upper door trim strips from Crazy Paul; he charged $180 for all 4 and included them in the box with the Nose Kit so there wasn’t any additional shipping (my local dealership quoted me $752 for the same 4 strips – prices varied for each strip and ranged from $172 to $214 each). At Paul’s suggestion, I did buy the gutter trim from the dealership for $112 each.

I had the trim installed at the dealership. I don’t do this type of thing enough myself to be completely confident that I could get it right and more importantly, I wanted someone else to hold accountable if anything was scratched or broken. The trim comes with instructions but I also copied all the instructions and tips from the SS Forum and GRRRR8 Forum and went over it with the service tech who did the work.

Nice, thanks for sharing. What did the dealer charge to install and what was your out the door price for everything? Also, are you going to do the door handles too?

The total was $1,429. The front blackout kit was $566 and the upper door trim was $140. I had Crazy Paul use expedited UPS shipping that cost an extra $75 and there was a $25 ‘documentation fee’ with UPS (I got the package from Australia in 3 days with expedited shipping; it took the dealership a week and a half to get the gutter trim). The gutter trim was $224 and installation at the dealership was $425 (a little higher than I thought it would be but I didn’t ask the price up front and didn’t want to haggle after the job was complete -- they did a nice job). I’m not sure about the door handles; I haven’t seen a good option yet.

The blackout treatment looks really good! That's going to be my first mod. I'm not really partial to chrome.

I too have Silver SS.

Don't want to seem like i'm piggy backing on OttoSS's thread, but I ordered the front blackout kit from Crazy Paul yesterday.

It looked sooooooo good on OttoSS's silver SS, that I wanted it for myself!

I plan to purchase the window trim kit at a later date.

Gotta keep up with the Joneses, or in this case the OttoSS'ses.:)
