full Black side trim is now done! the top window trim was cake. the lower Trim... no so much!

now the door handles look out of place. i tired to remove these but they are NOT removed like the G8 ones. at least there is not a standard bolt that removes the handle. it is a torx bit and it looks totally different in the inside. i am a tad weary of removing it that way and think it might be better just to remove the door panel.

That'd look awesome if it had the black rims that we get on the Red SSV Redline.
i have been debating that. personally i think black wheels just look black. even if they are aftermarket wheels... they just look well... look black... moving, they just look... black.... daytime... they look black. i think you get my point. AND i know, i own a set on one of my other cars.

however i have been looking at these Forged VOLKS

here is black:

and they don't look that bad on it.

and in sliver

i am going to have these test fitted within the next few weeks to see if i can get these to work. problem is the offsets on these wheels is this:

RAYS WHEELS

in a 20 incher the offsets i think are pushing the limits.. what do you think?

i may end up going with a 3 peice wheel but i would rather have a monoblock forged wheel.

what do you think about those offsets? i think with you being overseas you prabably can find more info about aftermarket wheels offsets on the VF.

i also will be lowering this car as well so i have to consider the offsets very carefully. the car is going in for test fitting this month for coilovers so i'll know more about that later too. ;)

Careful.
The 2x long black gutter trims look the same shape as G8, but the clips which hold it to the car are different.
Different part number for clips, different quantity of clips, maybe different positions of clips.
Black gutter trims to fit G8 have different part numbers to black gutter trims for 2014 Chevy SS.

EDIT: The above was an error on the GM Parts Drawing which has now been corrected.
Pontiac G8 and 2014 Chevy SS DO use the same gutter trims. Part Numbers are now the same.
The Parts have been eyeballed & the clips are correct.

2014 Chevy SS from factory has 6 "chrome" pieces surrounding the side windows.
The most cost effective way to change these 6 pieces to BLACK is to:

A) Buy the 2 replacement black really long curved gutter trims yourself from GM in USA. You don't want to be transporting them very far because due to their length and fragile nature the shipping is expensive and transit damage is common.
GM Part Numbers : 92294363 (left, black) 92294362 (right, black)

PLUS

B) Buy the 4 replacement black upper door straight trims from Australia.
(Much cheaper and can travel thru the Postal System).

I can help with B). Send me a PM or e-mail [email protected]

Further Info:

A) The GM packaging will normally be 1 long curved gutter trim per cardboard carton. Each carton is 90" x 20" x 3". If you collect these cartons yourself from a GM dealership you can fit both gutter trims inside the cabin of your car, if necessary.....then environmentally dispose of the cardboard cartons.
(Take some old towels & some tape to protect the interior of your car)

B) The straight upper door strips are only 41" long and travel thru the postal system from Australia & delivered to your house by USPS.

So if I still have my chrome trim from my G8, I can pull the black trim off it and reinstall the chrome gutters on the G8. This would save me a chunk of change on my planned blackout for the 2015. Do the clips usually survive swaps? What are the clip part # and quantity?

You can't buy any of the 6 clips off the straight upper door trims. If you break one of those clips (each of the 6 are different to each other) then you're up for a new straight piece, which comes with new clips already on it.

For the long curved gutter trims there's a total of 22 clips in 3 different styles and colours.
6 x 92207442 (yellow or white)
2 x 92207443 (green)
14 x 92207444 (white)
$30 total shipped for an Airmail packet of 22 clips.

Some people don't break any clips and some break all the clips. Age of the clips might play a factor.

Thanks CP. I went and pulled my chrome take-offs from my G8 out of storage and there are some broken clips, so when it comes time I will order the clip pack from you.

Yup. Most of mine broke. There's one tab that catches and ruins the clip. A small dental tool with a hook on the end might prevent that from happening. I hate the thought of tossing perfectly good chrome parts just because of a couple clips.
Any way to go through the actual manufacturer to find some?

Does anyone have part numbers for the 4 uppers? My mom works for GM and can get them at cost. I would think that will be much cheaper for me then getting it from AU. I allways try and get part numbers for the parts guy if I can.
Part numbers can be found in this thread:
http://www.ssforums.com/forum/how-forum/15402-upper-door-gutter-trim-fitting-instructions.html

With Crazy Paul out of business, I think JHP http://jhp.com.au/ might be the only source for the long piece.
