I was just about to post this, you beat me to it..
cool vid.

but why do so many people mention Holden? who cares what's its based on???? it's a chevy SS here in the states, that's all that matters.

personally i think Commodore is a lame name, and the badge is lame as well. i didn't put anything holden related on my G8, and won't on my SS either if i ever buy one.
I believe they mention it so often because most folks think the car is made in the US. It gives credit where credit is due. I'm proud to say that my car (G8) was designed and built in Australia.

I like his reviews, but I expected some remarks about the GPS/Nav. Anyway, great video.

Like Cajun said at GMI, the fact that it's a Holden is actually positive.
Did I hear that right? Simple Radio DVR. At 18:00 mark.

Pausing and such. Anyone else know what it can do?
Great video!

I didn't notice it the first time, but went back and sure enough. That is pretty cool. He only said that you could pause/rewind/playback, but I wonder if you are able to save songs to the hard drive like that?

It's interesting to know the lineage of the platform, but I agree it dose get old paying homage to Holden, The Commodore would not even exist if it wasn't for Louis Chevrolet. I admit though, my boys in Australia throw together one **** of a sedan!

Truly is a different animal though with the LS3. Stock for stock the SS would walk out on a Redline from a dig. just sayin...

That's too big of a stretch there mate. The first Commodore was all Opel Platform and Holden engines. Nothing but door handles and other random bits could be traced back to GM in NA.

VL had a Nissan I6 while VN had a Buick V6 but both still had the Aussie iron V8. VP debuted ABS but that was sourced direct from Bosch in Germany, who upgraded the system for the better part of the next decade. Chevy bits didn't make it into the commodore until the series II VT served up the Gen III V8 but Gen III was developed by GM Powertrain with only the cylinder spacing in current engines able to be traced back to Chevy.

It is absolutely true to say that the VF/SS is only worth considering because of all of the toys that are in it come from the greater GM Empire; but that is not Chevy is it? And the platform and the skin it currently wears are all Holden; but hey, Holden is GM too so let go of the Chevy thing, eh?!?!

My GTO wears the "manufactured by Holden" sticker proudly. And so will my SS if it ever freaking gets here!

Everyone loves their own things to personalize a car. Like a lot of Aussies like to put Chev badge work. Which only irritates me if they nly half do the job. One example is the Bowtie on the grill yet the Holden Lion still adorns the Boot lid.
I see a lot of special edition SSV models with the Pontiac Badges including G8 designation. These editions came out with Pontiac front bars in Sedan, Ute and Sportwagon.

Hey Chop, did you get to see That Green VF at Metro's?
No mate. Traffic was driving me bonkers so I kept my skates on and got the F out of there. The Leader or the Opposition was travelling through that part of town this morning so I put the bite on her to go have a butchers hook but she told me to take a long walk in a short pier.

Women! You can't live with 'me and you can't shoot 'em. :D

I think I might take the long way home tonight. :)

He was demonstrating that feature on a Camaro MyLink. The MyLink on the SS doesn't have the same buttons along the sides of the screen, and if a "pause" exists, it must be buried somewhere in the menu functions.
Was there a reason why he didn't use the SS MyLink?

He just said the Camaro's was "identical", but it isn't identical in the sense of the buttons along the side of the display, apparently.

He probably didn't want to re-film playing with the MyLink, edited it in, not realizing it was actually different.
Let's not nit pick Kyle using the Camaro My Link to save time, he does so many reviews of old and new cars I can see why he did that. I had a co-worker with the new Malibu and I was playing with the My Link and functions are the same as on the Camaro in that video. It is a really cool system, I just wish my 2011 Caprice had it.

Yes, Kyle can get some things incorrect, but he is one of the best out there when it comes to reviews as he is not influenced by any make or dealer. Only thing I noticed was noting that the Caprice was new for 2012, when it was 2011. Otherwise it was good and the mention of Holden I thought was good as that is who built it, not Chevrolet.

Because Holden doesnt get nearly as much credit as it should. Lets put it in another perspective shall we... Corvette is sold in Aus under the HSV name and Aussies brag about how great the 'HSV corvette' is. Mabey a little expensive and a little plastic but still 'Australian'. Doesnt sound very respectful now does it.

No, but I am a Texan, so pretty close.

And folks should be proud to call it a Chevy just as I am proud to call mine a Pontiac. But at the same time I am just as proud that my "import" is an Australian Holden (and a darn good one at that). Even my Avalanche was made in a different country.
