This looks great...I'm hoping those of us in California will be able to use as we have C.A.R.B. laws for aftermarket performance bolt-ons..The state with Tree Huggers!! LOLAn early picture of what RotoFab is working on .... looks very nice...
Yeah, the most recent law affects CAI systems effective Jan 1, 2014.This looks great...I'm hoping those of us in California will be able to use as we have C.A.R.B. laws for aftermarket performance bolt-ons..The state with Tree Huggers!! LOL
Hey Willy, What the He!! have they done to the laws now that would effect our use of a CAI in 'GoonBeam' lala land??? This crap has got to stop somehow!!!Yeah, the most recent law affects CAI systems effective Jan 1, 2014.
I don't know what the recent law effective 1/1/14 states but it has always been my understanding each CAI system had to receive CARB approval for each model year car. Regardless of same basic engine or same model car. And that these approvals could take a couple of years or more.Yeah, the most recent law affects CAI systems effective Jan 1, 2014.
I ran across this while having my Turbo RX-7 smogged when I sold it last August. My CAI was just hanging out there on the end of the intake tube routed to the front and my smog pump intake had its own filter for its intake. It came in the kit with the CAI. He told me that was now illegal as of 1/1/14 and nearly made me take it of and go back to stock. He also told me to advise the new owner.Hey Willy, What the He!! have they done to the laws now that would effect our use of a CAI in 'GoonBeam' lala land??? This crap has got to stop somehow!!!
And do you think they'll make an engine cover similar to this one that people are using on the Camaro?
Great info guys! I'm liking this setup as it's still in the same location and enclosed like the stock airbox..Also I would hope they make sure all the stock sensing hoses are actually doing what they are originally designed so we don't get Codes/Check Engine lights..All of this will come from R&D process im sure!I ran across this while having my Turbo RX-7 smogged when I sold it last August. Then he went on to tell me that any system that moves the air box from the stock location(which does pull in cold air from that location, by the way, or deletes the box altogether and just uses the filter,) will be illegal.
It seems to me it could only affect those that have more than just the intake hose being fed from the air box. If the new CAI has provisions for all of that, then it should be ok.
I have not looked at the SS's system to see if it would be a problem, if modified. But, I would imagine all the CAI makers would be aware of this.
Noise suppression.Looks much better than all the plastic in the center in front of the engine that comes with it. What is the box in the middle of the stock set up? This looks like it eliminates that and just uses the curved tube between the CAI and the engine.
That's the Air Intake Resonator. It has a dual function, improves efficiency of air intake and helps suppress sound.Looks much better than all the plastic in the center in front of the engine that comes with it. Could have alot to do with the hood strut running right through there. Thats all I can think of that would keep it from sealing.Interesting, wonder why they went with a sealed design...
