How likely is it that the wagon turns out to be the SS? Although i do doubt the chance that the SS sparks a wagon revival simply because Reuss said he want an affordable wagon for the masses thats fun, looks hot and engages the driver. No SS could tick all those boxes except for the affordable mainstream bit.

BUT, there still is hope....

He would also need to convince his new boss, CEO Mary Barra, to sign-off on a made-for-America wagon, which could be underpinned by the architecture found in the Cadillac ATS and next-gen Chevrolet Camaro.
Interesting indeed...

I can see doing it but am not sure what the sales play is entirely. Wagons are very cool but went away for many reasons. Find a way to put a V8 RWD and AWD station wagons in a Chevy showroom and I think they are likely to sell.

Europe has plenty of cool wagons so it is definitely possible. I think a lot of Americans would rather go with an SUV than a wagon though. I'm just not sure that the market is really there right now based on what people are buying now.

I am not going to hold my breath for a SS wagon, that is for sure.

Agreed.... until I see them prowling around Milford area with M plates it isn't likely. If it's going to happen they generally start popping up around here. Fun to speculate though and i've done the whole SUV thing a couple of times and always seem to come back to the large car side. Especially if it's an LS3 and RWD....

Holden can definately hit all those targets. They have a fun, affordable, mainstream wagon just waiting to be shipped out. The problem is really that GM do not want this car or Holden to succeed. They would rather build a whole new car than to use an existing and proven car/platform.

I would pimp either one of those V8 wagons!!
Actually looked into a CTS-V wagon before deciding on the SS.
Nothing against a the SS as a sedan, but the fun and usefulness of a performance wagon would be hard to pass up.

As the owner of a couple of wagons (see sig), the more the merrier. And yes, I am looking at a SS... just because.... we are again in a superb age of performance cars..... the new Corvette... the SS.... the current CTS-V crop...

you want to know what happened to the wagon?

CAFE regs and profit margins

When CAFE first came around there were exemptions made for light utility vehicles so that small business' were not over burdened with conforming. However the definition of light truck is so broad it includes pretty much everything from a HHR to Escalade. So many of these light utility vehicles (read CUV) are exempt unlike a wagon. Meaning for manufacturers its not only beneficial to their CAFE standing to transition buyers into light utilities but also a boon to their revenue stream....

Example of typically sad government policy making. My dream car would be a 6MT SS Wagon. Think detuned (therefore affordable) CTS-V wagon with comfy seats and no polarizing styling.

Yes sir, couldn't agree more. As a kid i used to have a tragic love affair with the Nomad :D:(. I've never understood the aversion to wagons, they look 100x better than any van or jellybean SUV, handle much better, way more engaging to drive and offer real world practicality.

Oh right folks wont look like they're about to take on MT.Kilimanjaro in their ordinary station wagon, but your cute 'ute and canada goose sure convinced me good...;)

AHAHAHAHAAA, its such a joke.
