Looks to me like these would fit the SS perfect for those that are more interested in the quad tip look vs. full cat back system. Only $120 for the pair, wonder if anyone has tried these before ?

This afternoon on way home from the tint job I stopped at my muffler and exhaust guy, yep a one man shop that does everything by hand. He's built exhaust for last 4 hot rods I've had. He looked at the Red Tails, took his own measurements, and told me to order them up ASAP. As soon as I get them mounted I will post pics.

Wife says I'm out of toy money. Guess I'd better let her drive some this weekend.

I got some different tips. We did have to make a custom gooseneck to raise them, when installed based off of the old tip, they sat way too low.

I'm curious as to how many people are using a custom "goose neck" fitting like Charles mentioned in the 1st page. Also it seems like others are cutting them exactly at the factory weld and just installing them from there? Just trying to understand since I will be doing this soon.
Charles was using different tips than Russ (sorry for the dupe, just learned how to do multi-quote :))

The Red Tail tips just arrived, here's a couple better pics. These things are sweet dual rolled edges, high polished, and very well made. I sat them up against the openings and they will fit perfect. Hope to have installed early next week.

as soon as I can get them Installed I will.

Over the weekend I taped off the polished tips and painted the rest with flat black VHT paint. Figured once they are installed it may be hard to paint the top portion well and touch ups around the weld area should be fairly easy.

Thanks, I saw those and yes the price is slightly better. I measured and 99% certain the 11.5" length would interfere with the rear hangar bracket. The Red Tails are only 8.5" in length and should mate up perfect from the hangar to the end of the diffuser cut outs.

I have an install appointment Monday right after lunch. I should have before, during, and after photos to post. ]

Kinda sad this a 30 minute job took over a week to "fit in" but I do understand the guy needs to fill his time best he can with jobs that pay his bills.

They really do look perfect. This weekend I saw a car that I hadn't ever seen before, and I immediately thought "That's it! That's exactly how I want my SS to look!" It was fantastic in person.

So I guess I'm getting some of these dual tips, RJ. Thanks for the follow up. They look dope.

Thats a Jaguar XF. Hard to tell if it's and R but I believe it is. Love those cars. Big four door with a 550hp supercharged V8.

$40.00 to install the tips, $20 per side. Took all of 35 minutes.

Used a Sawzall to remove the stock tips. Ground the edge of the welds slightly, fitted the new tips, leveled, measured, tacked. Then he dropped the car down and remeasured everything plus we did visual check from both sides plus full rear. He then raised the car back up and finished the welds all the way around with a wire fed Mig. One thing I did was take VHT high temp black header paint and paint the silver heat shields on the spare tire bin/trunk floor. Being bright silver it stuck out when the car was viewed from an angle.

All in all I'm quite pleased with how they look and how they fill out the openings in the diffuser.

Here's a pic of the stock tip (yes, it's upside down). The tip goes from 2.25" to 3.5" which is a pretty good stretch. The new Red Tail tips are dual 3" which I think look more stock than a dual 3.5" would.

You can see this was cut off right at the weld nice and straight which enabled the new tips to be mounted perfectly even.

So I can do these with cutouts and have good looks, plenty of sound and flow when wanted with no drone when I don't, and save money vs a catback? Hmmm...

You sir are a genius! I think this route would be perfect for me as well. :eek:k:

that was kinda my take, it's a 100% aesthetic thing. The car SHOULD have come with quad tips but that has been discussed and debated plenty already.

The stock exhaust may be restrictive but at low rpm the car is pretty quiet and personally I like ability to be stealthy when I want to.

I measured my 3" duals yesterday, 1" on left and right sides, ~1-3/8" at the top. The top sits maybe 1/8" lower than the OE 3-1/2" single tip. The clearance is good all the way around but without looking too small. Wish I had measured the OE single tip but it had to be around 2-1/2 to 3" on each side.

Whatever route you go I'm sure you'll be happy, quad tips complete "the look" of the SS.

Actually, I had to Internet pretty hard to figure out what kind of Jag that thing is. Turns out, it's not just an XFR, its a 1-of-only-100, 2014 XFR-S. Costs just over 100,000.

If I'd have known what I was looking at I'd have taken more pics.

Getting mine done this week. I got the Red Tails. The diffuser was obviously set up for quad tips and the single tip just looks a little lost in that large opening. Can't wait to see how it looks when done!
