Help me out here guys. I have the option to buy the first SS that will be sold here in Utah. Here is my thought process. There are 6 showing at dealers here (only 2 are actually on the ground) and only ONE of them is Red Hot 2. The rest are PBM.

I do think the PBM is sexy as **** clean. I also think Red Hot 2 looks faster lol. Neither would be my first choice but I very much want to start the trend here and own the first SS.

So, the question is: Do I go Red Hot to be different as all the others coming are PBM?

Thanks for your input!

Flip a coin...you can't go wrong with either...

Do you have kids? If so, have one pick the color for you.

That's what I did because I couldn't decide between Magnetic Silver Metallic or Magnetic Grey Metallic. My son picked the silver and that's what I came home with.

On edit: Personally, I think I like the black ever so very very slightly better ;) but it seems like there are fewer Red Hot 2's so far which, would make it cool to have something a little more rare.

Jared, I personally think that it is a bad idea to buy a car just to be the first if it's not the color you truly want. You should just wait for the color you actually want to show up - that way you won't end up with buyers remorse for picking a color you didn't truly want.

Boosted - I was thinking the same thing but got side tracked with his original question. I agree that he should hold off and get the color that he really wants unless it's a color that is not going to be offered in the SS lineup.

Honestly, none of the colors are a run away favorite for me. I thought mystic green was but the more I see it the less I like it. I think the Red just adds a little more flash to a somewhat subtly styled car. The black looks meaner. I know I won't have remorse regardless. Thanks for the thoughts, everyone!

If you stay undecided long enough, you may have the luxury of new color options for MY 2015.

I did not like the red one I saw in person. I liked the black but thought the chrome was taking away from the appearance a bit. Really liked white but knew I would immediately start the blackout treatment like I did with my CTS-V.

Ended up with Mystic Steel Grey ( yep I made that up but I just refuse to admit to buying a green car!!)

My 2¢ The black does look great, when it's clean. But I have had black cars (still have one) and find it does take more work to keep it looking good. White looks clean even when it isn't!
I REALLY think you need to see the Mystic Green in person (if you haven't already) before you decide. But I am a fan of the color orange and that Red Hot 2 would have to be MY choice.

So since you guys said not to settle, let me bounce another idea off of you. What are your thoughts on a 14 Camaro 1LE?
Just a suggestion.... why not both?? I was on the fence between silver and black but with Michigan seasons changing by the day sometimes I went with silver just to keep a clean car CLEAN longer...

I'm not a fan of the Camaro's new tail lights...I like the SS way better

I think it depends on what your purpose is. The 1LE doesn't have the creature comforts of the SS, and isn't a car I would like to spend 8 hours a day driving while traveling. If your intent is weekend warrior or tracking or driving locally, the 1LE would be great. Just IMO ...

I will very seldom if ever take the car on long trips. It's going to be my daily driver and it would be nice to have a few track days since I only live 30 minutes from Miller motorsports. It's a pretty legit track that hosts the big bike races. I'm torn!

Sounds you would be better off with the 1LE. It's made for road courses and auto-x. If your thinking straight line, I would go with a used SS L99 and mod it for going straight very fast.

Did the dealer search for in stock and in transit or did they search for ALL cars including pending orders and unbuilt????

Most dealers beings dealers wanting to sell a car today only search stock and in transit so they can sell it today!

Go with the color you like the best and disregard the rest.

I have passed on stellar $$$ deals to replace my yukons with newer ones only because the color selection available when the $$$ deals were right was awful.

FYI I love black, had one and will never have one again. Too much work and too many visible clearcoat scratches no matter how careful you are.

I think the 1LE is the car I am more passionate about. I have a 2 yr old and a 6 week old baby. They haven't been in my car in since my 2nd was born and my 2 yr old has been in my car MAYBE 3 times in his life but I am still worried that the SS would be more practical. Would a booster fit in the back seat of a Camaro?

They have checked all invoiced cars which shows the in transit as well. All black except the one Red one and I have now found out the red isn't available for trade. I can't purchase the Red one as I am a manager at my store and buying from another dealer would very much displease my GM. Hence, my wondering mind and mew desire to drive a 1LE.

What creature comforts will I give up going to the 1LE?
Depends if you go 1SS or 2SS, 1SS has cloth seats and 2SS has leather with heat or you can go with Recaro's. Neither has all the electronic toys, Nav is an option also 1LE is standard trans only. The ride is a bit stiffer, 2 doors with basically no back seat to speak of.
