Just curious to see if we were driving a car with an 'elite' badge, would you still change it over to a Holden?

I personally think the lion badge is ugly. I am also not a fan of the Chevy badge. But the fact is we drive a Chevy here in the US. I am personally not a badge snob, as probably most of us if we drive this car. My wife is and can't stand that I chose to buy a Chevy. But is that the reason you are changing over?

I am waiting for a plain grill with no front logo. Hopefully somebody, someday will make one.

The Lion badge looks good to me, but not a priority in my mind. Kinda like changing your Acura badge to a Red Honda badge on your Integra or RSX.
As for no one knowing what it is, no matter the badge, people do not have a clue as to what it is.

fixed.

In my high school Spanish class, my teacher tried calling me Esteban because in Spain that is what my name would be. I told her that in Spain, my name would still be Steven, changing countries doesnt change that.

And if my reason isnt enough, then a little Shakespeare works as well. A rose by any other name and all that.

FYI, I have not purchased one yet. I am anxiously awaiting news on the 2015 models before I commit, hoping for a manual but not holding my breath.

I like the Lion badge and the heritage it represents. Kinda like stating "I know this car is Aussie and I'm aware they've been kicking @ss and taking names down under" while American brands cowered away in FWDs and Euro brands relegated RWDs to the luxury market. The same happened in Brazil with people reverting their Omegas, Vectras and Calibras to Opel trim as a nod to their German heritage.

Funny that in Aus some change the brand to Chevy or even Pontiac. Just another way to go custom, I suppose?

I'm unhappy with the way Chevrolet has allowed my selling dealer to behave and also think that GM's shuttering of the Holden plants in Australia epitomizes the cutthroat short term thinking that got it into trouble in the first place. The last thing GM needs is to return to its xenophobic Detroit centric focus.

So, even though I love the stealth aspect of the Chevy badging I'm probably going to rebadge the SS and replace all Chevy badges with either Holden or HSV badges. I don't feel like promoting Chevy and want to show some solidarity with the workers at Holden who produced and sent us a great car--now with the SS--and earlier with the G8 and Camaro.

I'd consider doing it when i get one only because that's what it really is. The fact that GM owns Holden does not make the SS a GM car IMO. Their are some re-badged Chevy's that are sold in AU as Holden's. The SS is not one of those. It's a Holden and badged as a Chevy. Big difference IMO.

Best argument for putting cats all over your car I've heard. Darn good point.

I'm staying with the Chevy badge for one simple reason, it's stealth. Nobody gives it a second look.

Some may prefer the lion, some may want to support Holden. All good reasons.

@BHSS - don't judge the entire company by one bad dealer experience

Everyone else...we will enjoy our cars no matter which badge is on it, and we all will blame GM as soon as things start breaking down, I bet the word Holden isn't going to cross your mind when that call to the dealer is made.

Your statement is the truth as it is....This car was designed by Holden, sold as Holden for many years before Chevy thought to stick a new grill, and some Bow ties on it. I just think the Holden badging looks better, I love Chevrolet, have had many Corvettes, and one 5th gen Camaro, still have an Anniversary 2013 427 Corvette, so I have nothing against Chevy...Love um. But this car really is a Holden plain and simple. I must admit I do like the looks and questions I get from everyone.

I bought the car because it was a Holden. Nothing more to say.

well then I guess you are going to stop buying cars in three years then, aren't you?

Did I miss something?
I do not recall anyone saying the ONLY car he would own was Holden.

There is thousands of products sold in the US and the rest of the world, made on the same production line with different name brands on them.
If one feels the actual manufacture should have credit, why would it offend anyone?

Best explanation so far.

The gold chevy badge just rubs me the wrong way, if it was black or silver outline then there wouldnt be any problem. I like my gold to be real gold.
