"But to those rear-drive Impala SS enthusiasts overdue for a new car to tune, tweak, and bracket-race (and make big, smoky burnouts in such as the one our art department insisted we snap, though that’s no longer this car’s principle raison d’etre), Leone assures, “We will support the car in accessories. Holden has a reasonable aftermarket portfolio, and a lot of Camaro equipment will bolt on.”

So there ya go for those of you wondering if there will be accessories available.

They also said that they switched to a composite trunk floor/spare-tire well to save weight. The G8 has a composite spare-tire well.

Why o why did they test the SS in 40 degree weather with the summer only tires? Unfortunatly some people are only going to jump to the end of the article to view the specs, only to see slower numbers than the GXP. This is just not fair to the SS. Hopefully they will do a comparison test with other sport sedans in warmer weather.

The article suggests that an LSA, LS7 or LT1 engine is NOT very likely!

Boo!
LS7. Not likely although it was engineered into the VE for the W427 from HSV. LT1 again I would love to see it but won't hold my breath.
LSA I think is a possibility but the Manual should make the 2015 model year from what I'm hearing.

only issue i could see with the LSA is the extra cooling systems are fitted by HSV, not GMH. LS7 would be highly unlikely also as the W427 were fitted with LS3 from GMH, then HSV swapped the motors out... they both obviously work and have been engineered for the Zeta platform but little issues like that will always raise their heads.

I was wondering what finishing work needed to be done on the LSA, I recall reading or hearing something about that. Just couldn't remember where?
In HSV's YouTube documentary about building the GTS I'm sure they mention it a couple times.

As far as fascia openings for cooling, I was wondering if that requirement was just for Australian conditions? I didn't think the Camaro looked like it had that much?

Wasnt there test drives where the Camaro basically over heated? this would pop its head sooner in the driest continent (Australia). I think HSV just tried to over engineer the car to last in the Australian condition. Its one reason why the Arabs has always loved their Commodores.
