Question on Parking Assist Switch

1421 Views 9 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  dragonballz
Hello all, the switch just in front of cup holder on console with a P and what looks like parking curb in front of it. It is for front and rear parking assist, is it supposed to light up green and stay on when you push it ? Mine comes on and goes off it seems whenever it wants, just want to see if mine is bad or it supposed to go off and on.
Thanks,
JIM

Goes off above certain speeds I found out the hard way that it won't come back on when pulling straight in.

Very nice for curb parking. Works great too. I normally back in though. :) maybe with auto park at times for fun.

Thanks, I'll try tapping switch when pulling in spots, was mentioned in another post. If you have lane departure on the parking assist light stays green all the time... strange

Glad to see this is a known issue. I thought it was a defect as I couldn't "turn off" the parking assist light until I realized it was tied to the lane departure switch. Can anyone with a newer model SS also confirm this? I didn't read anything about it in the OM.
I always have to tap it on when pulling into my garage or parking spots it seems. It stays half lit until I tap it back on then it lights up bright green. My lane departure warning is always on.

If you go to reverse for a second then drive it will come on as well.

Thanks for confirming. Makes me feel better!

I guess you mean that you always have the lane departure warning TURNED ON, because you can turn it off. :wink

To confirm, when Lane Departure warning is turned ON, the Park Assist button is half lit green. When turning Park Assist ON, the green light will glow brighter green. When LDW is turned OFF, the Park Assist button is not lit unless turned ON, then it glows bright green. Can't post a video to show but hope this helps anyone else who's wondering.
