I apologize if this has been answered in another thread but I've read a couple of references in threads here and there that production of the 2014 models might now be wrapped up? Is that true? I understand that maybe there are several boatloads of cars in transit so there may still be many coming to our shores, but I'm trying to get my head wrapped around what it means that there is no more production for the MY.... Clearly, if true, I won't be able to order a car to my liking, correct? So if I'm now in the market, it becomes a challenge to locate a model somewhere in the vicinity and try to make a deal?

I know that I'm coming late to the game but was originally thinking I would hold out until the 2015 model year, but then the Missus gave me the "OK" to do something sooner. I'm "cursed" with a strong interest in the Mystic Green, but they seem to rarer than hen's teeth in these parts at the moment....

Also, if true, when would the 2015 model year ramp up? Not until September? Or is that my old-fashioned thinking? Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I'm picking my car up the 24th. When I talked to my dealer last week, he said that orders for 2014 SS's is going to end soon and they are probably going to be taking orders for 2015 shortly. He said he got a letter telling him about no more orders for the 2014 model year.

As reported in our ship tracking thread just yesterday or early today by our friend Commodoreman2000, there are currently more SS's and PPV's heading to the Outer Harbor in Adelaide as I write this. The production facilty started back up on Jan. 6. All orders for 2014 MY where ended on Dec. 12 or 13. Some people on here have production dates for their 2014's to be built in Feb. So, they are still building 14's, you just can't special order one. No word on MY 2015 yet. And hen's teeth will be easier to find than a Mystic Green SS sitting on a lot somewhere. There is one ship due in this week, and one shipment in Japan waiting for the ride over and a ship heading to Australia due by end of the month to pick up the 7th load.

Headrat is right. They are pumping out around 50 to 60 SS per day still and set the temperature to Bake :D its nearly 113 degrees here 45 in my native speak.

At least they are shipping them to port quickly and they sit under shade cloth at Outer Harbour.

How long would you say the average wait is in the sun before they are moved to the shade at the Outer Harbour ?

I saw the Santa Paula one online; while ambivalent about the spare tire, the sunroof made it to the "must have" list, so that one fell off of my list (plus it was quite a ways away). BUT, the only other Mystic Green I could fine anywhere in the state of California appeared to be heading to Gold Rush Chevrolet in Auburn (just past Sacramento heading up into the Sierra foothills). I had made contact with their team when I saw it in the online inventory and we kept up a correspondence for a few weeks. When they contacted us yesterday to tell us that it had arrived, we rearranged our plans and hotfooted it up there. Our main purpose on visiting was to see the color in person and make sure that it was what we wanted, and I had extremely low expectations that anything more would come out of the visit. BUT, despite their having it on their showroom for less than 24 hours, a very amicable deal was struck and now "JAWS," our Mystic Green SS, is sitting in my driveway!

They would only sit at Elizabeth for maybe a day or 2 before getting shifted. where just in the middle of a Heatwave of record breaking proportions at the moment. Adelaide was supposed to get to 46 degrees today. I haven't seen a temp yet but it got hot enough to cook off of I reckon.

They put all the protective plastics on at Elizabeth pretty quick which would protect the surfaces but bare in mind these cars go through much hotter when going through the ovens after paint shop. And are designed with our extreme heat in mind from the outset so should be no issues.

I just like pointing out how chilly it is :D

Good for you!
I'm dying to see one in person...

Edit - the other one is at Rotolo in Fontana, has the roof and spare. Not sure where you are from - might be farther for you if you are up north.

Doing some rough math if they started around Aug 15th and end in Feb 14 that's about 120 days times 50 is 6000 units not the first figure of 3300 that I was told. So we have 583 first ship second ship had 300 so what was on 3rd and how many are on the fourth load being unloaded today. We have ship 5 and 6 were ever they are and the 7th loaded at end of month. If production does stop in Mid February why load a ship at end of month why not wait and get last produced and the 7th would be last.
Just food for thoughts anybody else care to make a wild guess. If they have ramped up production they may not go into February.

My guess is they end production when the Chevy specific part supply is exhausted. 2014 orders are cut off and they know what they need to build. If that number does not coincide with what they'd like to have on dealer lots in the spring they'll probably push a few more orders in. Doubt we'll be fortunate enough to see any incentives this spring so they likely would want to have product on dealer lots through the summer until the 2015's go into production. Ro Ro Ships run 365 so I don't think they will hold up a bunch of cars to fill out deck space. I'm hopeful once my car is built they don't let it languish until it is paired up with a spot on a ship with every other SS. I'm still not seeing my order in the Chevy order (my order went in the 2nd week of December) system locator yet but am still thinking it will be produced in February.

The powers that be had a target sales number all figured out and the total allocation number was this number. Almost all were ordered and the week notice to close ordering was to get the stragglers with unused allocation to 'put up or shut up'. Parts specific to the SS were ordered many months ago the lead time, supplier production scheduling etc necessities that. Once they closed the order book on the SS for the 2014 MY it is done period.

Edit: As we speak they are building out the the December orders.

Need to see dealer and find out status code 1100 2200 or what ever event code it is at. They should have an event code by now.

I'm in Santa Clara in Northern California so the Southern Cal cars would have been quite a schlep just to see the color. Auburn was 152 miles away, I think? Which is also why, I think, it didn't show up when I did a search on my zip code--I don't know what radius they use, but I was plugging in zip codes from every major metropolitan, and some not so metropolitan, cities I could think of. I'll have to re-acquaint myself with where Fontana is and see how I missed it. Actually, I was thinking that the online Inventory system was looking out to a 150 mile radius but in thinking about it now, I don't think that is the case, so I should have honed my detective skills better.

It usually does 25 miles....sometimes more or less by what the system thinks is your 'market area' and/or driving times.

Yep. Chevy Cust Svc advised as of 12/18/2013 it was at status 3100. Was hoping the GM system would pick up the order so I can keep tabs there. Easier to ping their website then continually ask Cust Svc for updates. With another six inches of snow the last couple of days and temps in the 20's and subsequent teens in the forecast I'm in no rush...

Not going to show up on chev website order tracking.

The dealer should be updating you every Wednesday and it only takes <1 minute to punch it up in order workbench! Make 'em earn their money!

Trust me they earn their money with me. Most people that really know me call me "fussy" when describing how I act with my cars. There are many other words more appropriate!

I'll update when I hear back from my guy... fortunately I've been buying cars from him for 30 years so he knows me well.
