Does anyone know if a factory 19" Pontiac G8 GT wheel will work for a spare tire for a SS. I saved my jack kit and spare out of my g8 when I traded it for the SS. I was having a hard time finding a SS with the spare. I finally found one. I know it will bolt on and has the same size and brand tire as the ss. Just don't know if it will clear front brakes. I have it on Ebay for sale for a G8 and somebody ask me if it would work. I would try it on my wife's car but she is a accountant and this time of year I don't see her or the car.

Might want to check the G8board.com to see if someone has done it on a G8 GXP. Same brake package as the SS.

A stock 19" G8 GT wheel will not clear the Brembos on a GXP without some spacers, so I seriously doubt that they will clear the Brembos on the SS. It would likely fit on the rear, just not the front.

It would be a horrif PITA but in a pinch you could move a rear tire to the front and put the spare on the rear. Would require you to have either a second jack or a jack stand along with your spare and jack kit.

You could get by with one jack.

Jack up rear, remove rear, put spare on rear, lower car, move jack to the front, raise car, remove front flat, put factory rear on the front, lower jack, head on your way.

As infrequently as folks typically get flats, this would work and beats not having a spare available when the SHTF.

Without physically trying it I would be concerned with clearances as the rear is wider and the offsets are different than the front.

yea, i didnt think about that. i wouldnt be too concerned about the offset. im pretty sure a rear wheel will fit the front. in a pinch youd have no choice but to try it. lol that is usually how most things are figured out it is there is no other way around it.
