Hey all,
Has anyone heard of this plastikote spray on alternative to black out kits? Supposedly if you mess up, you can just peel it off.
I saw it and wondered if it did any damage to the factory paint. My buddy has a camaro ss and is.about to use this product to black out his rims and badges. It's hard to believe that a five to six dollar can be this good. ...any thoughts?

I haven't personally used it. I have heard of several products like Plasti dip, and a similar Armor All product and seen the final result which looks good.
My best advice would be to do a test on something similar to a cars paintwork etc and be sure you are happy with the results and alleged performance of the product, and that it does what it claims eg peels off with no damage to paintwork or finish.

I did black Plasti Dip over the Gold on my chevy badges front and back. I think it looks good for a $6 can and you're right, you can peel it off with no harm. Check out the "painted my bowtie black" thread for pics.

I've seen a couple guys do their hoods, and when peeled off it left a stain on the clear coat that took months to get rid of. There are no issues with rims, bow ties and such ... Personally I would just use a piece of vinyl for the bow ties. Just be careful of spraying body panels.

Agree here, I messed around with Plasti Dip on the hood of my Impala and it left a stain, came out with some buffing, but still.

All you need to know about dipping, and then some.
