Nice link.
Thanks for posting.

Those guys are all saying the same things I've been posting in in here for a while.
"I paid $15k LESS for my Holden/Chevy PPV which is basically the same car as the SS Sedan. $45k is too much and we don't need those extra features."
And IF someone is really serious about turning their caprice into a beast, they can do a manual swap and in the end the cost of the caprice and the manual trans swap will still be less than that of an SS.

But I think the SS is still cool, manual trans would be make it cooler. :shithappens:

Hey the Pontiac GXP an 09 car was 40,000 car so 5 years later more electronic gadgets and update interior and chassis 45,000 list doesn't sound to bad to me. My Camaro 2 SS was over 40,000 list just saying.

The G8 GT was $29.9k
The GXP was a ripoff at $40k.
The SS Sedan is a [email protected] joke at $45k.

$45k is FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS more than the G8 GT.
FIFTEEN THOUSAND DOLLARS !!!!!
[email protected]

$35k would have been more than fair for the SS Sedan
The SS is not a direct replacement for the GT.

Get over your butt-hurt and move to a G-35 forums board. :signlol:

Naaaaah.
I'll enjoy the C6 until GM get's their head our of their ass and drops the SS price and offers a manual transmission.
If not, it will be a ATS-V, 2015 Camaro, or a C63 with a turbo V8 and all wheel drive.

Enjoy your overpriced GXP with the faster AUTOMATIC transmission. LMFAO
I will; thanx.

Your archaic slushbox is a remedy for people that can't drive manual or can't afford a DCT, or both.
But, it is NOT faster.

How many supercars have torque converters instead stickshifts or DCTs?
Once again, the Mayor of Wrongsville (population: you) shows his lack of knowledge. :yahoo:

Here is a quote from the current issue of Wheels magazine in Oz, just for TTC6, who I notice is still under siege from his ever present verbal diarrhea.

"Jumping straight out of my VE to fly to the launch drive of the VF I was well placed to compare the two, and the result was startling. The VF SS-V isn't a little better, it's a giant leap ahead in some areas, particularly steering feel & interior refinement. Sadly the VE feels like an old and outdated car, instantly. The VF is that good.

You're a [email protected] idiot if you're going to argue that a slushbox is better than a manual or a DCT.

Keep making a fool of yourself in a pathetic attempt to personally attack me.
Oh trust me TT, I'm not attacking "YOU". It's your brain that is a useless 6 pound matter. If you could just lop that thing off then all of your, and our, problems would be fixed.

And I've told you before, be easy on your keyboard. It didn't do anything to you.

And OBTW, the auto is still faster than the manual. These are facts.

The Auto GXP is faster than the manual GXP. Fact. Get your head out of YOUR ass.

I feel sorry for people that need to rely on magazines to teach them everything they "know" and to give them "their" opinion instead of coming to their own conclusions.
I feel sorry for people like you who only know how to criticize people in order to gain attention.

Uhhhhh, it's 2013 and you're talking about discontinued cars ????
The AMG SLS has a dual cluth transmission for 2013.

McLaren did NOT have a DCT that could handle the power when the SLS was released and considering the target market and MSRP, they did not want to put a race transmission in.

WRONG AGAIN.
The Lamborghini Aventador has a single clutch. Wait, let me guess, it's a piece of **** right?

The transmission doesn't make how fast the car is.

One type of transmission is not "faster"

Torque converters suffer from high percentage of drivetrain power loss.

They also generally do not shift gears as quickly as a dual clutch automatic.

There are some cars with a dual clutch that are miserably slow. And not all dual clutch transmissions shift quickly. Some aren't designed that well.

Just like not all torque converters are miserably slow in shifting. Some are actually respectably quick.

Torque converters are NOT faster than manuals.
Keep proving how stupid and uneducated you are.
That is why NO professional road course cars have torque converters.

Or, keep denying facts to support the wrong decision you made to buy a GXP with an automatic decision.
But, when talking 1/4 mile times, most autos(single and dual clutch) are faster than manual transmission equivalent.

And they don't miss gears or make mistakes.

On equal cars, a human rowing their own will always be slower than an auto trans.

Do you realize you just proved you are absolutely clueless about how DCT transmissions work ?????

Educate yourself and post back in this thread why the DCT is a computer controlled MANUAL transmission and that is a HUGE advancement above all other transmissions.

Here is a hint:
There is NO pause in a DCTs acceleration between gears because power delivery is constant.
go and drive a dodge dart with a dual clutch transmission.

is the car faster than a chevy ss with a torque converter automatic?

you don't get my point at all.

You guys are making it sound like the transmission of a car defines how fast the car is.

Just because the car has a dual clutch transmission does not mean that the car is fast.

And not all dual clutch transmissions are well designed.

The same goes for torque converter automatics. Some of them are actually quick to shift (still not as quick as a DCT though) example . Scion FR-S Subaru BRZ.

:)

You need to stop jumping to conclusions.
