I was doing some "spirited" driving around this afternoon, just enjoying the beautiful 80f weather we are having. I look down at the DIC and see the message "Performance Shift Enabled" when getting on it around a curve. I haven't noticed this before. Any idea what I did to "enable" it and what exactly it does?

Moving the Shift Lever to the right while in Drive (D) will engage Sport Mode. It's easy to do so accidentally. Move the Shift lever back to the left will cancel it. Moving the shift lever to the right and then moving it forward or back engages manual shifting of the tranny. Then you can REALLY have fun.//Hope this helped.

No, not Sport mode. The car already was, and almost always IS, in Sport mode.
I see this short paragraph on page 9-24:

In addition, the transmission can sense enthusiastic driving, at which
point it may delay upshifting and downshift earlier when braking. This is designed to maximize vehicle performance.

Of course, that says nothing about the DIC saying Performance Shift Enabled, but I guess that explains it... however briefly.

That's what I said in like 5 words rather than 40. :)

A part of this first made appearance on the '98 Seville. It was a "Performance Shift Algorism". The most apparent feature of it, I noticed on my '99 Seville, was when cornering hard enough, the transmission would downshift and get you ready to roll into the throttle as you exit the turn. My '07 STS-V was the first GM car with the 6 speed auto and this feature was on that also with the added benefit of a firmer, later shift that when in "D", as well as the downshifting on hard turns.

I remember the first time I really got on it in my G8 (WOT through more than one gear) and when I let off it just stayed in the same gear at like 4000rpm. I thought the tune I had just installed screwed up my tranny haha.
