I have a Passport Max radar detector and I was hoping to tap into the rear view mirror power using a Mirrortip from Blendmount MT-2012. Has anyone done this successfully? I appreciate any help you can give.

Yes, a few of us have done this. There is a thread somewhere on this site that I describe which wires to use on the mirror tap for ground and 12v+ with key on.

With mine there isn't much room between the mirror and the unit to push the mute button. The folks at Blendmount sent me a new part to drop the detector down a bit more but I haven't installed it yet.
Search for Blendmount and you will find the wiring info.

In our 'Electronics' section there are two threads. One is "Radar and Laser Detectors" and the other is "Mirror tap wiring for Blendmount". The gray wire I refer to is actually a lavender wire in good light and young eyes!! Read both threads--there are pictures I think.
