paddle shifters?

3735 Views 12 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  z51vett
I test drove one today. The left paddle shifted down fine, but the right paddle would not upshift. The dealer is telling me it is a programming issue. Does anybody have any insight on this? The transmission shifts fine in auto and with the shift lever.

Typical dealer personnel answer.

Enough said.

Sadly (or lucky for us?) a lot of the dealers selling this car have no clue about the features this car has. Hence they can't explain well how to operate them or what the potential issues are. After all, many of them are just salespersons and not car enthusiasts like us!

More often than not, you will go into the dealer knowing more about this car than most people there.
The people at the store where I bought mine ask me stuff because they don't know! The performance guy knows every nuance of the Stingray but only what GM has passed down about the SS which is virtually nothing. He said the training he went to was nothing compared to the Stingray.

This is a dealer that had the second Stingray delivered in the area and a huge allocation of Stingrays even though Kerbeck is a quick hour drive away!

I'm getting the feeling the 'business case' for the SS drastically changed between approval and execution and now that Holden's fate is sealed just doesn't exist anymore. The dealer's floor traffic on the SS is almost nonexistent. My dealer has had his silver for a month now .... only 2 ups came in. The first ran over just after it came in; drove it and said it was "too much car for him." The second came in last week and was real hot but remembered the parts availability problems he had with his Syclone so took a pass when he heard 3K a year for 3 years production. It looks nice on the showroom floor though!

The dealer ordered cars are not moving here ...

have seen a similar issue here...one dealer tried 5K over msrp but now has it at msrp...bought mine for over 2K under msrp with the USAA discount and rebate
My dealer has it at MSRP he doesn't go over even on the first Stingrays. Been there a month.

A black roof one has sat at another dealer for 6+/- weeks at $933 below invoice on the internet pricing. I don't know if he bangs you once you get thru the doors though... the other ones on the ground are just sitting at MSRP except for what I think were 2 ordered cars which blew through the doors in a couple of days. Just no action on them except for us guys!
