LS3 is a HSV only option. I think they mentioned 2 different outputs for the 6 litre 260 kw and 270 kilowatts ones auto and the other is manual output ( I can never remember which one has the higher, I think its the auto ). or around 360 Horsepower. With an exhaust and Tune she's good for more.
So basically the SS-V Redline is essentially the model you guys will get with the LS3 and paddle shifters, different front seats and probably some other things except for the Manual ( C'mon GM get your act together and offer 6 speeds of AWESOME ). The Redline for the first time offers a staggered wheel fitment so I am guessing the same wheels as the Chev SS.

Couple other articles on here suggest that Chevy SS production will continue in the States once production ceases in Australia, so with Americans in full control of it, and SS production going on longer than the VF commodore a manual should happen.
It all depends on what happens with the SS program as to what happens with production. The things we already know is that the PPV will continue being built at Elizabeth past 2016 for as long as the General want to offer it for police work. I will try to find the article but now they are saying it will be possible to build the Holden sport variants including the Chevy SS post VF alongside the next generation Cruze which is confirmed and another global platform which we now know will carry the Commodore name plate. t
The media here are going nuts on that saying the next Commie will be a bum dragging 4 pot based on the Malibu even though Malibu goes on sale 2 weeks after the VF on June 14.
All I know is FWD large family sedans don't sell well here in Australia the Commodore still outsells them except for the last 2 months as people are waiting for new VF.
The new base 3 litrew V6 is said to use 8.3 litres per 100 km whereas the Malibu is said to be 8 litres so I would always pick the roomier car. So the base is far better on fuel than a Ford Mondeo/Fusion at 9.5 litres.

Heres the article I mentioned. Holden SS will live beyond Commodore article at link Holden SS will live beyond Commodore | carsguide.com.au
Assuming the VF /Chev SS continue past this 2016 cut off it would need the Gen V to pull off the gig plus a facelift again ( which before GFC used to happen every 3 years or so ) to bring it into line with Impala of that time. Just my thoughts on extending the cars life we will know in 3 years time I guess.
